Township may rezone park -- just in case

Township may rezone park -- just in case
"Fruitland Township officials are taking steps to help protect what's been described as the 'single most significant recreational resource in the township.'
Although there are no plans in the works to ever sell Duck Lake State Park, the township's planning commission and master plan are calling for new zoning for the 728-acre site in case it were ever sold to private interests. A three-person subcommittee of planning commission members recently began researching the issue.
Township officials made it clear that they have no reason to believe that the state would ever sell the site that features Lake Michigan shoreline dunes, Duck Lake beach and boat-launch access, picnic areas and trails for exploring the natural, wooded setting. A state official also described the sale of an entire state park as highly unlikely."

This smells!
