They were citizens of the world, Fredrick and Gloria loved everybody until they were called JEWS. It was so shocking that Gloria lost control and called the bigot a F--k. Instead of the Captain throwing the Anti-Semite into the brig on a diet of bread and water, he confined the couple to their room. It is unbelievable that a person that does not wear any religious symbols could be identified as being Jewish.
