"‘We can’t negotiate with people we haven’t hired’
The Michigan Education Association announced that it will go to court over the district’s decision to not bargain over the 2011-12 contract.
The union argues that even though the old contracts expire on June 30, they should remain in effect until a new contract can be negotiated with the new school board.
Pelham doesn’t buy the union’s argument.
“We haven’t hired anybody,” he said.
“We can’t negotiate with people we haven’t hired.”"
