Strip out Apple's (AAPL, Fortune 500) 116% profit surge, and that growth falls to just 3%.
And if you also exclude AIG's (AIG, Fortune 500) 77% earnings pop, which was driven by a tax-related accounting gain, overall S&P 500 growth gets slashed to a measly 1.2%.
