"According to the new edition of the report, released today by the Competitive Enterprise Institute, Americans spend an estimated $1.8 trillion a year to comply with federal regulations.
For the first time, that’s more than half the level of total federal expenditures. 
Agencies spend $61 billion per year just to administer and enforce federal regulations—a 50 percent increase in the last decade."
