OMG! $1.4 MILLION more in ads!!!--------Proposal 1 backers spend nearly $7M to win votes

Proposal 1 backers spend nearly $7M to win votes | Crain's Detroit Business:
"The groups backing Proposal 1, which just about every business, labor and local government group supports, have spent almost $7 million to make sure voters support it at the polls next week.
Proposal 1 seeks to create the funding stream for local communities after the repeal of the state’s tax on industrial personal property.
While there is no organized opposition to it, the group Michigan Citizens for Strong and Safe Communities has raised more than $8.3 million in support of the initiative, according to a filing made Friday with the Michigan Department of State.
The bulk of the money in support of the proposal has come from the Michigan Manufacturers Association, which has pumped in more than $2.8 million.
Ford Motor Co. kicked in $2 million in February, while General Motors Co. contributed $500,000 this month and Chrysler Group LLC added $250,000 in June.
......The proposal will appear on the Aug. 5 primary ballot; the group still has $1.4 million left to spend."
