Democrats ask for military to 'come into contact' with Ebola patients by Renee Nal
In a bizarrely-worded letter, House Representatives Keith Ellison, Karen Bass and Barbara Lee asked President Obama to allow “…military medical and technical personnel to provide direct care to, and to come into contact with, patients in West Africa.”
As reported by Kristina Wong at the Hill, Major General Darryl Williams, commander of Operation United Assistance, is accommodating the request, perhaps unintentionally.
While speaking of a new 25-bed hospital in Monrovia, Williams was quoted as saying,
They [military personnel] will actually be involved in the care and feeding of health care workers who have been infected with the Ebola virus.
Even the progressive Mother Jones acknowledges that “Ebola would certainly present a risk for any military personnel treating patients.”
