Face it. The little man hates much of our country-------Presque Isle Power Plant could cost UP residents millions

Presque Isle Power Plant could cost UP residents millions : News : UpperMichigansSource.com: "MANISTIQUE -A recent Federal Regulatory Energy Commission decision proposed the U.P. assume 100 percent of the $116 million Presque Isle Power Plant operating costs, starting December 1.

.....At an informational meeting held by Cloverland Electric Cooperative, they said their coop will be responsible for about 20% of this bill, or nearly $22 million per year.
Cloverland said their residential consumers could see an increase of 30 to 50 dollars each month, and the rest?
Even more.
“We’ve got commercial customers that could see over $6,000 a year, industrial customers that will see hundreds of thousands of dollars a month and maybe over a million dollars a year,” said Cloverland CEO and President Dan Dasho.
Many of the meeting’s attendants are concerned for the U.P.’s future.
"Our small businesses are going to be hurting tremendously,” said Scoolcraft Chamber of Commerce executive director Connie Diller.
“I’m also concerned with the citizens in our community because we have a lot of elderly, we have a lot of unemployment, we have a lot of disabled people in this area and its already complicated for them to pay their bills.”
Although this new plan is set to start on December first, Cloverland is hoping to stop it.
We’ve got to do something to stop this process from happening,” Dasho said.
“This has been done with no hearings, this is all a decision at the federal level and we’re doing everything we can.”"
