"WASHINGTON The White House said Tuesday that DTE, Consumers Energy and other utilities across the country are promising to spend at least 5% of their fleet acquisitions budgets each year — totaling more than $50 million annually — on buying electric vehicles.
....In a fact sheet, the White House said the commitments bring the U.S. one step closer to achieving President Barack Obama's goal, announced in March 2012, of becoming the first nation to produce plug-in electric vehicles as affordable for the average American family as gasoline-powered vehicles.
