"An Alabama middle school has an unusual solution for fighting off an armed intruder should one come onto campus and open fire on students and faculty.

Burns Middle School in Valley sent a letter home with students Friday, requesting they bring an eight-ounce can of beans, corn, soup, or any other type of canned food back to class as the weapon of choice to ward off a crazed lunatic by throwing the packaged food at the gunman.

Bringing canned food to a gun fight seems like an idea created by a liberal, but Holley said it is part of the school’s new ALICE method — alert, lockdown, inform, counter, and evacuate — that is supposed to teach students what to do during a shooting.
The misguided thought behind the plan is that “arming” kids with canned food gives them a sense of empowerment — with peas?..."
