4. This is the best the lawmakers could come up with? 
Hansen underscored that the proposed law change is the result of 10 years of bipartisan compromise and policy work.
"For 10 years, we've talked about what are we going to do about our roads," Hansen said. "This has been a huge challenge to get where we are today.
"Is it perfect? 
Absolutely not. 
But I've never seen a piece of legislation come out of Lansing this perfect."
Hovey-Wright agreed.
