Hackers threaten to expose secrets of 37 million Ashley Madison user

Hackers threaten to expose secrets of 37 million Ashley Madison users - MarketWatch:
"Hackers are threatening to leak the personal details of more than 37 million users of adultery site AshleyMadison.com, after claiming they broke into the site’s systems.
The “Impact Team” group of hackers has already posted “large caches of data” online, including random samples of information and company bank-account data, according to cybercrime expert Bryan Krebs.
The intruders claim to have broken into databases and financial records on systems belonging to Avid Life Media, the Toronto-based owner of AshleyMadison.com.
The chief executive of Avid Life Media, Noel Biderman, told KrebsOnSecurity that the company was working to take the sensitive data offline.
On Monday, the company confirmed it’s investigating a major hack to its systems, though it did not specify which of its sites were affected.
“We apologize for this unprovoked and criminal intrusion into our customers’ information,” said Avid Life Media, which also owns dating sites Cougarlife.com and EstablishedMen.com
