I wonder what political party Bhakta represents?
Heh!

In Brownsville, he witnessed half a dozen men swim under one of the international bridges “with complete immunity” which in turn prompted him to take the immigration issue to the next level. Bhakta decided to see if he could get an elephant accompanied by a six-piece mariachi band across the river. According to his Web site, he is in favor of “sensible immigration reform” and supports a border fence, local law enforcement assistance with immigration laws and the use of the National Guard troops to help the U.S. Border Patrol.“To my surprise, the band played on, the elephants splashed away, and nobody showed up,” Bhakta said of the stunt. “I’m astounded.”

HOW MUCH MORE TIME DOES THE WORLD NEED?
UNITED NATIONS (AP) - Russia and China on Thursday opposed tough sanctions the U.S. wants to impose against North Korea this week for its claimed nuclear test, saying they want more time to work out a more moderate response to Pyongyang's nuclear brinkmanship.

A democrat I could vote for!

Heh...
http://www.imao.us/archives/006408.html
Democrat Dr. Bob Bowman, a Vietnam combat veteran, is running in my district, Florida District 15, for Congress against Republican Rep. Dave Weldon who has served at the Space Coast's representative since 1994. Dave Weldon won his last reelection with 65% of the vote and seems to not be expecting much of challenge, but recent event have shaken things up, including the scandal involving another Florida Congressman, Mark Foley.
Dr. Bob Bowman recently got a bit of notice in the blogosphere for his views on government complicity in 9/11, and I decided to request an interview. He accepted, and I sent him some questions through e-mail. A request for an interview with Rep. Dave Weldon was unanswered by his campaign staff.
Here's the interview:

Classic liberal democrat

A man who couldn't find steady work came up with a plan to make it through the next few years until he could collect Social Security: He robbed a bank, then handed the money to a guard and waited for police.
On Wednesday, Timothy J. Bowers told a judge a three-year prison sentence would suit him, and the judge obliged.
"At my age, the jobs available to me are minimum-wage jobs. There is age discrimination out there," Bowers, who turns 63 in a few weeks, told Judge Angela White.

MEDIA MATTERSYouTube blocked video mocking Clinton administrationLimits imposed on access to clip critical of Albright-run North Korea policy

The popular video-sharing YouTube site, which is being purchased by Google for $1.65 billion, limited access to a political ad that mocks the Clinton administration's policy on North Korea, but contains no profanity, nudity or other factors generally thought objectionable.
The company announced a "flagging" policy change just this week, about the time that a controversial spoof by Republican filmmaker David Zucker depicting former Secretary of State Madeline Albright as a cheerleader for Islamic terrorists started appearing with a warning page in front, requiring verification that a viewer is 18 before the video will appear.
The short film by Zucker, who worked with "Scary Movie 4," "Airplane!" and other comedies, reportedly had been offered to the Republican Party for use as an ad, but it was declined. Then it appeared on the Drudge Report and also on YouTube.
However, after a brief period of accessibility, the verification page started appearing on YouTube. It asked that: "This video may contain content that is inappropriate for some users, as flagged by YouTube's user community. To view this video, please verify you are 18 or older by logging in or signing up." Today the verification page on the spoof was removed.

YANKS PITCHER DEAD IN PLANE CRASH

DOH!
“The whole plane has a parachute on it,” Lidle said. “Ninety-nine percent of pilots that go up never have engine failure, and the 1 percent that do usually land it. But if you’re up in the air and something goes wrong, you pull that parachute, and the whole plane goes down slowly.”

Hans Blix: "I'm sorry, but the U.N. must be firm with you. Let me see your whole palace, or else." Kim Jong Il: "Or else what?" Blix: "Or else we will be very, very angry with you, and we will write you a letter, telling you how angry we are."--dialogue from "Team America: World Police" (2004)

"The world lined up against North Korea on Monday for staging a nuclear test denounced even by key allies. . . . There was no talk of military action. But the Security Council quickly condemned North Korea's decision to flout a U.N. appeal to cancel the test after the reclusive regime announced it had set off an underground atomic explosion."--Associated Press, Oct. 9, 2006

Another ripoff!

http://www.michigan.org/medc/aboutus/biz/index.asp
Why is no one offended by the enormous waste of tax dollars on the Michigan Economic Developement TV ads with Jeff Daniels? These are showing all over Michigan TV stations these last few weeks. If they showed them in other states it might be OK but these are clearly political ads to help the democrat governor just before the election. Our tax money thrown away just to help Jennifer. And the ads are horse-hooey! If the business climate in this state was so good we wouldn't need the ads anyway! GOPer or Demo, we all ought to be angry with this waste and slimey skirting of McCain Feingold Campaign finance laws.

"America is the only industrialised nation in the world experiencing significant population growth," Victoria Markham, the director of the Centre for Environment and Population (CEP), says in a new report. "The nation's relatively high rates of population growth, natural resource consumption and pollution combine to create the largest environmental impact, felt both within the nation and around the world." She adds: " The US has become a 'super-size' nation, with lifestyles reflected in super-sized appetites for food, houses, land and resource consumption. 'More of more' seems to characterise modern-day America - more people than any generation before us experienced, more natural resources being utilised to support everyday life and more major impacts on the natural systems that support life on earth."

If this was a tax paying company things would be worse.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - The Roman Catholic Diocese of Davenport filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Tuesday, the fourth diocese across the country to seek financial protection to deal with priest sex abuse cases.

The filing comes less than two weeks before the Iowa diocese defends itself at a trial involving a former priest accused of sexually abusing a high school student.

Bishop William Franklin said the diocese was left with no other alternative to settle more than two dozen claims against priests accused of sexual abuse. He said the move would ensure the financial health of the church.

"Today, the Diocese of Davenport is standing in the moment of a historic event," Franklin wrote in a letter to members posted on the diocese Web site. "While providing just and fair compensation to victims/survivors, we also believe that the decision to reorganize is the best way in which we will be able to continue the Church's

Proof the Demos covered up

No MSM outrage here.

The Republican leadership is lying when they claim that Democrats have engineered an “October Surprise”; there was never a plan undermine the G.O.P. or to destroy Hastert personally, as the speaker has vaingloriously suggested. I know this with absolute certainty because Harper’s was offered the story almost five months ago and decided, after much debate, not to run it here on Washington Babylon.

In May, a source put me in touch with a Democratic operative who provided me with the now-infamous emails that Foley had sent in 2004 to a sixteen-year-old page. He also provided several emails that the page sent to the office of Congressman Rodney Alexander, a Louisiana Republican who had sponsored him when he worked on Capitol Hill. “Maybe it is just me being paranoid, but seriously, This freaked me out,” the page wrote in one email. In the fall of 2005, my source had provided the same material to the St. Petersburg Times—and I presume to The Miami Herald—both which decided against publishing stories.

Nuclear Toast!

http://www.drudgereport.com/flashma.htm

Pretty sick

“I just deleted it,” says an official at a Washington-based social-conservative organization. “It looked like junk e-mail.”
“It” is what has become known as The List, a document naming allegedly gay Republican congressional staffers that has been e-mailed to a number of conservative groups in the last few days. According to a report by David Corn, a writer for the left-wing magazine the Nation, anti-Republican “gay politicos” sent the list to several social-conservative organizations — among them Focus on the Family, the Family Research Council, and the Southern Baptist Convention — in hopes of setting off “a civil war within the GOP, to turn the anti-gay social cons against the GOP’s Velvet Mafia.”

Clinton’s North Korea Legacy

A recent ad on the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee
website opened with the words, “Security Under Bush and GOP?” It
claimed “North Korea has quadrupled its nuclear arsenal,” and included
footage of a tank and North Korea President Kim Jong Il. The ad
ended, “Feel safer? Vote for change.” Democrats have been hoping
we’ll all completely forget history. Yes, North Korea is an incredibly
dangerous nuclear member of the axis of evil, and for that we can thank
Bill Clinton:
In the spring of 1992 brutal North Korean dictator Kim Il Sung
allowed International Atomic Energy Agency [IAEA] inspectors, led
by none other than Hans Blix, into his country. Kim claimed they
had “a tiny quantity [of plutonium] … far from the amount you
need for a weapon,” reported Blix, according to The Washington Post.
But covert tests showed that the North Koreans had actually
reprocessed massive amounts of plutonium — enough for several
bombs, reports Jasper Becker in the definitive Rogue Regime (Oxford
University Press). When the IAEA asked for access to nuclear waste
sites to investigate further, the North Koreans balked.
In 1993, North Korea declared it would withdraw from the Non-
Proliferation Treaty [NPT] unless certain demands were met: “U.S.
diplomatic recognition, the end of economic sanctions, one million
tons in grain, half a million tons of fuel oil per year … and the delivery
of two light-water reactors worth over $4.5 billion. The Koreans
were quite specific about the sort of reactors they wanted and only
these would do.” notes Becker. Absurd.
By 1994, tensions between North Korea, South Korea, the IAEA, the
UN, and the U.S. were mounting; actual military conflict loomed.

This is a Big deal!

Drive through the "Hood" in any city and see how many "businesses" are "churches". Another way political correctness destroys our society. Sad.
As Exemptions Grow, Religion Outweighs Regulation - New York Times: "As an employer, Ms. White must comply with the civil rights laws; if employees feel mistreated, they can take the center to court.
Religious organizations, including Pastor Fuson's, are protected by the courts from almost all lawsuits filed by their ministers or other religious staff members, no matter how unfairly those employees think they have been treated."

Muskegon's gonna get rich!

If a company can get sued for firing a fat dude, why would any company hire a fat dude?
Steve Pasanski of Bad Axe says co-workers and supervisors used to tease him about his weight, and the company eventually fired him because he was obese.
Unlike workers in any other state, Pasanski -- who weighed more than 360 pounds when he was let go -- had the law on his side.
He sued Continental Rentals Inc. in federal court, using Michigan's Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act -- the only state law that bans discrimination on the basis of weight. A jury in Bay City awarded Pasanski $284,000 in damages.

Into the mind of a Democrat voter

A LTE in The Muskegon Chronicle
If you are rich or are an employer, you should definitely vote for Dick DeVos. If you make less than $100,000 per year and you are an employee, you should vote for Jennifer Granholm.
Think back. Has anything good ever happened to an employee or a middle-class person in a Republican administration? The answer is no.
Dick DeVos' plan for creating jobs is such a secret that he will not reveal it until elected. The reason being that he couldn't be elected if he reveals it before the election.

However, if you remember, his wife Betsy revealed their plan a year ago when she said the people of Michigan "make too much money." That seems a tad bit disingenuous coming from a billionaire. She also said that Michigan should quickly move to become a right-to-work state.
Here is his plan. As soon as he is elected, he will quickly try to make Michigan a right-to-work state. A right-to-work state is a state where an employer that has union employees may also hire non-union people to do the same job. This will basically eliminate unions. Unions are employees who fight to be treated fairly and paid a living wage. Without unions looking out for the workers, Dick can take a job paying $18 an hour and make two jobs paying $9 an hour.
That's his plan, folks, plain and simple. Then, because the one thing Republicans hate even more than labor unions, are taxes based on income. He will quickly move to eliminate those kinds of taxes.
Republicans love taxes where the poor people have to pay the same amount as the rich. Those are called regressive taxes. So, he will probably raise the sales tax like Engler did. He may even do like other right-to-work states do and put sales taxes on food. He may even raise the gas tax. Republicans like the idea that a poor person has to work four hours to fill his gas tank but a rich person only has to work about 15 minutes.
If what his wife said is true, this is his plan. If you like it, go for it.
Remember, the most powerful non-union country on Earth is Communist China. In the '60s, we were so fearful of the spread on Communism that we sent 58,000 Americans to die in Vietnam in an effort to stop the encroachment of Communism.
Dick DeVos hires these Communist Chinese because China is the perfect right-to-work state. So did Wal-Mart's Sam Walton. And George Bush thinks that is just fine, too.

I guess we sorta forgot these quotes

"One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998 "If Saddam rejects peace and we have to use force, our purpose is clear. We want to seriously diminish the threat posed by Iraq'sweapons of mass destruction program." - President Clinton, Feb. 17, 1998 " Iraq is a long way from [here], but what happens there matters a great deal here. For the risks that the leaders of a rogue state will use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons against us or our allies is the greatest security threat we face." - Madeline Albright, Feb 18, 1998 "He will use those weapons of mass destruction again, as he has ten times since 1983." - Sandy Berger, Clinton National Security Adviser, Feb, 18, 1998 "We urge you, after consulting with Congress, and consistent with the U.S. Constitution and laws, to take necessary actions (including, if appropriate, air and missile strikes on suspect Iraqi sites) to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq 's refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs." - Letter to President Clinton, signed by Sens Carl Levin (D-MI), Tom Daschle (D-SD), John Kerry ( D - MA), and others Oct. 9, 1998 "Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the development of weapons of mass destruction technology which is a threat to countries in the region and he has made a mockery of the weapons inspection process." - Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D, CA), Dec. 16, 1998 "Hussein has ... chosen to spend his money on building weapons of mass destruction and palaces for his cronies." - Madeline Albright, Clinton Secretary of State, Nov. 10, 1999 "There is no doubt that ... Saddam Hussein has invigorated his weapons programs. Reports indicate that biological, chemical and nuclear programs continue apace and may be! back to pre-Gulf War status. In addition, Saddam continues to redefine delivery systems and is doubtless using the cover of a illicit missile program to develop longer-range missiles that will threaten the United States and our allies." - Letter to President Bush, Signed by Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL,) and others, December 5, 2001 "We begin with the common belief that Saddam Hussein is a tyrant and threat to the peace and stability of the region. He has ignored the mandate of the United Nations and is building weapons of mass destruction and the means of delivering them." - Sen. Carl Levin (D, MI), Sept. 19, 2002 "We know that he has stored secret supplies of biological and chemical weapons throughout his country." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 " Iraq's search for weapons of mass destruction has proven impossible to deter and we should assume that it will continue for as long as Saddam is in power." - Al Gore, Sept. 23, 2002 "We have known for many years that Saddam Hussein is seeking and developing weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Ted Kennedy (D, MA), Sept. 27, 2002 "The last UN weapons inspectors left Iraq in October of 1998. We are confident that Saddam Hussein retains some stockpiles of chemical and biological weapons, and that he has since embarked on a crash course to build up his chemical and biological warfare capabilities. Intelligence reports indicate that he is seeking nuclear weapons...." - Sen. Robert Byrd (D, WV), Oct. 3, 2002 "I will be voting to give the President o! f the Un ited States the authority to use force-- if necessary-- to disarm Saddam Hussein because I believe that a deadly arsenal of weapons of mass destruction in his hands is a real and grave threat to our security." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Oct. 9, 2002 "There is unmistakable evidence that Saddam Hussein is working aggressively to develop nuclear weapons and will likely have nuclear weapons within the next five years We also should remember w! e have a lways underestimated the progress Saddam has made in development of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Jay Rockefeller (D, WV), Oct 10, 2002 "He has systematically violated, over the course of the past 11 years, every significant UN resolution that has demanded that he disarm and destroy his chemical and biological weapons, and any nuclear capacity. This he has refused to do." - Rep. Henry Waxman (D, CA), Oct. 10, 2002 "In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapon stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. He has also given aid, comfort, and sanctuary to terrorists, including al Qaeda members. It is clear, however, that if left unchecked Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare, and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons." - Sen. Hillary Clinton (D, NY), Oct 10, 2002 "We are in possession of what I think to be compelling evidence that Saddam Hussein has, and has had for a number of years, a developing capacity for the production and storage of weapons of mass destruction." - Sen. Bob Graham (D, FL), Dec. 8, 2002 "Without question, we need to disarm Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal, murderous dictator, leading an oppressive regime ... He presents a particularly grievous threat because he is so consistently prone to miscalculation .. And now he is miscalculating America 's response to his continued deceit and his consistent grasp for weapons of mass destruction... So the threat of Saddam Hussein with weapons of mass destruction is real." - Sen. John F. Kerry (D, MA), Jan. 23. 2003 SO NOW THESE SAME DEMOCRATS SAY PRESIDENT BUSH LIED, THAT THERE NEVER WERE ANY WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, AND THAT HE TOOK US TO WAR UNECESSARILY !

Unemployment down!

MSM depressed!
Job data offers mixed reading of economy: "The unemployment rate last month dipped to 4.6 percent even though the number of new jobs was disappointing, a sign the economy is slowing but in no danger of stalling as Election Day nears.
Employers added 51,000 jobs to the nation's payrolls, the fewest new hires in 11 months a tally well short of the 120,000 positions private analysts predicted.
Job gains for both July and August turned out to be stronger than first estimated, however, and that blunted some of the sting. As it turned out, there were some 62,000 more jobs created in the summer than previously reported."

Who'd of guessed?

The liberal MSM was too busy to report this bit of good news.
BREITBART.COM - Budget Deficit Drops to $250 Billion: "The federal budget estimate for the fiscal year just completed dropped to $250 billion, congressional estimators said Friday, as the economy continues to fuel impressive tax revenues.
The Congressional Budget Office's latest estimate is $10 billion below CBO predictions issued in August and well below a July White House prediction of $296 billion.
The improving deficit picture _ Bush predicted a $423 billion deficit in his February budget _ has been driven by better-than-expected tax receipts, especially from corporate profits, CBO said. "

Olbermann Watch: The 18-Second Gap

Olbermann Watch: The 18-Second Gap: "The 18-Second Gap
On Friday, Countdown reported on the latest allegations against George Allen. We noted that they did so by rerunning a report that aired Thursday on Hardball. David Shuster interviewed a woman who said she heard Allen using racial slurs.
But as we revealed exclusively on Olbermann Watch, the Countdown version differed from the original Hardball broadcast in one significant respect. Snipped from the taped piece were a series of questions that revealed the political affiliation of accuser Pat Waring. We will disclose now what Keith Olbermann did not want you to hear.
From the transcript of Thursday's Hardball, this is the exchange that was censored from Friday's night's Hour of Spin:
SHUSTER: You volunteer, you acknowledge you are a registered Democrat.
WARING: I am indeed.
SHUSTER: You volunteer at the local Democratic office?
WARING: I do.
SHUSTER: Once a week?
WARING: Once a week,
SHUSTER: Couple hours?
WARING: Yes.
SHUSTER: What do you do for them?
WARING I sit there and answer the phone and give people signs.
Obviously, MSNBC believed that the partisan bias of the accuser was relevant if viewers were to fairly assess her credibility. Just as obviously, somebody decided that this exchange, roughly 18 seconds long, had to be removed when the piece was shown on Countdown. Result: the accuser's background as a Democrat activist was never disclosed to the audience.
Who ordered that a pre-taped piece should be sent back to the editing bay, just to remove these particular 18 seconds? Was it notorious quote-doctorer Shuster who decided this report should be doctored? If so, why a special, edited version just for Countdown? Or is it more likely that the infamous, deplorable Keith Olbermann "

Illegals granted Social Security-Nation/Politics-The Washington Times, America's Newspaper

Illegals granted Social Security-Nation/Politics-The Washington Times, America's Newspaper: "The Senate voted yesterday to allow illegal aliens to collect Social Security benefits based on past illegal employment -- even if the job was obtained through forged or stolen documents.
'There was a felony they were committing, and now they can't be prosecuted. That sounds like amnesty to me,' said Sen. John Ensign, the Nevada Republican who offered the amendment yesterday to strip out those provisions of the immigration reform bill. 'It just boggles the mind how people could be against this amendment.'
The Ensign amendment was defeated on a 50-49 vote.
'We all know that millions of undocumented immigrants pay Social Security and Medicare taxes for years and sometimes decades while they work to contribute to our economy,' said Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican.
'The Ensign amendment would undermine the work of these people by preventing lawfully present immigrant workers from claiming Social Security benefits that they earned before they were authorized to work in our community,' he said. 'If this amendment were enacted, the nest egg that these immigrants have worked hard for would be taken from them and their families.'
Mr. Ensign was among 44 Republicans and five Democrats who voted to block such payouts.
'It makes no sense to reward millions of illegal immigrants for criminal behavior while our Social Security system is already in crisis,' said Sen. Jim DeMint, South Carolina Republican. 'Why in the world would we endorse this criminal activity with federal benefits? The Senate missed a big opportunity to improve this bill, and I doubt American seniors will be pleased with the result.'
Sen. Patrick J. Leahy, Vermont Democrat, said it would be unfair to deny ill"

Didn't see this on PerkyKatie....or anyone else

Threads2: "One million white South Africans - almost a fifth - have left the country in the past ten years. This figure was released this week in a report from the South African Institute of Race Relations (SAIRR). Frans Cronj who compiled the report, said it were especially crime and affirmative action which had driven a fifth of South Africa's white population out of the country.

Comments:
I imagine they also refer to white farmers being forced to sell their farms and bargain basement prices as ''affirmative action.'' It's not just the crime but the rising corruption and injustices at the hands of the thug ANC government. Another decade of them in charge and S Africa will be begging for aid. "

Crash may be last straw for expensive maglev train

Crash may be last straw for expensive maglev train: "The maglev has always sucked in vast public subsidies, a relic of an era when government 'industrial policies' were often based on applying seed money to what politicians hoped were the trends of tomorrow. "

We're doomed!

: "'Jackass Number Two' romped its way to a strong box office debut, leaving the rest of the weekend competition far behind, according to data released Sunday by industry tracker Box Office Mojo.
'Jackass,' a sequel featuring Johnny Knoxville and friends performing bizarre, outrageous and usually painful stunts, opened on just over 3,000 screens and grossed $28.1 million for the three-day period from Sept. 22 to Sept. 24. The film, released by Viacom's (VIA: news) Paramount, had a production budget of $11.5 million."

Proof of Bush/Rove free speech supression!

....Maybe not......
The Indepundit: "EARLIER in the week, I came across another protest, at the corner of 15th and Constitution on the National Mall.

Billboard calling for impeachment of President Bush.
The first thing that caught my eye was the mobile billboard calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney. I was amazed that here in fascist Amerikkka, only two blocks from the White House, such a blatant display of disloyalty to the Supreme Commander was allowed to stand. But no government storm troopers were in evidence, and the passing tourists appeared completely unfazed.
Indeed, I later learned that this billboard had been in place for almost two weeks, as part of a grand project called Camp Democracy, a three-week anti-war festival on the National Mall. This project has drawn dozens of people to this prime location, in an orgy of hate for the current administration. "

Amazing true aircrash that didn't happen!

The Gimli Glider / Air Canada
A really great story of brilliant airline pilots..... and a ton of luck.

Well...duh.....

Cleveland.com's Printer-Friendly Page: "Valdis Krebs is pretty sure he knows why the super-secret National Security Agency is rooting around in the nation's phone-calling records. It's the same sort of electronic sleuthing he did following 9/11 to uncloak some of al-Qaida's secrets. "

I love lookin' back.....

NYT May 2006
Why does anyone read this propaganda rag?
Remember, it's the New York Times!
Rough Summer Is on the Way for Air Travel - New York Times: "Brace yourself for a summer of miserable air travel.
Planes are expected to be packed fuller than at anytime since World War II, when the airlines helped transport troops. Fares are rising. Service frills are disappearing.
Logjams at airport security checkpoints loom as the federal government strains to keep screener jobs filled. The usual violent summer storms are expected to send the air traffic control system into chaos at times, with flight delays and cancellations cascading across the country.
And many airline employees, after years of pay cuts and added work, say they are dreading the season ahead.
Those workers, and there are about 70,000 fewer of them than in 2002, will be handling more than 100 million more passengers this year than they did four years ago. "

TheChronicle Bias Watch

Amazing LTE in today's Chronicle deemed worthy by the censors at the local newspaper titled "Coast Guard ranges may be a political ploy". The writer states that Congressman Hoekstra is in a tight race for re-election. Not true. He then suggests that "After 60 years of relative peace on the great lakes....." the Coast Guard Great Lakes training is a plot by Bush and his minions to scare "us" for political gain. No proof. Just paranoia. TheChronicle commissars printed it (but not on the web).... so it must have some redeeming value...right!

TheChronicle Bias Watch

buried in page 6b, the last page. Bad news not too important if it's the liberal in charge, eh?
mlive.com: NewsFlash - Michigan unemployment rate rises to 7.1 percent: "Michigan's unemployment rate edged up to 7.1 percent in August, state officials said Wednesday.
The latest seasonally adjusted rate was greater than the July rate of 7 percent and remains among the country's highest. The national jobless rate was 4.7 percent in August."

Missed this vote by Stabenaw

Asian carp are coming and it will be very bad

Asian carp are coming and it will be very bad: "I just got back from the Redneck Fishing Tournament in Bath, Ill. The flying Asian carp are twice as big and twice as many as last year! Some 78 boats caught 1,840 fish -- not pounds of fish, but fish -- in three hours. Some were 35 pounds! We do not want these things in our lakes and rivers. "

Corn shortage?

Chronicle LTE:
very bad: "Taking food out of our mouths for the gas tank
We are making car fuel out of corn, etc. So now we have cars competing for food that the poor people depend on.
Lord have mercy.
Richard Havens
Muskegon "
This has to be sarcasm.......doesn't it? Wait till they start turning cable TV into car gas........

What about the children?

I'm confused. DeVos isn't elected to any office and he's criticized for not ending the strike? Granholm is criticized. "Children's education" is reasserted as paramount? But there is no mention that this strike is illegal and the teachers are breaking the law? Liberal-think. It's a scary thing.

Chronicle editorial:
disgrace: "Governor needed to intervene in strike
This being an election year, no politician wants to irritate special interest groups friendly to the cause. However, the Detroit teacher's strike wasn't about politics, it was about children's educations.
Gov. Jennifer Granholm was pretty much a non-player in the ongoing dispute, which passed the two-week mark before a judge stepped in and ordered teachers back to work. She needed to knock some heads together early on.
Nor did Granholm's opponent this fall, Republican candidate Dick DeVos, do much better. After days of silence, the DeVos campaign released a candidate statement late last week calling on the Legislature to change the laws on teacher strikes to allow a single parent in any school district to trigger sanctions. That was an extreme overreaction in our book, but at least it was a reaction.
Granholm's reluctance to engage the combatants in this fight could have had unintended consequences. One of the options before Wayne County Circuit Judge Susan Borman was to rule the current state law unconstitutional, leaving districts all over the state once again vulnerable to teacher walk-outs.
With forced negotiations now under way, it's better for teachers, districts and the children they serve to resolve this mess. And the governor needs to stand ready to help out. "

Classic liberal response from The Chronicle

Mayhem on the football field was a local disgrace: "A big problem turned out to be the lack of any security at the field, which should have been a requirement even if there had been no hints of the violence to come. Adding security at public events is a common-sense approach to avoiding potential problems, and is used by most organizations."
No blame to, or even mention of, the parents and thugs. Just blame to the "organization". "Organizations cause riots, not people".

Gas price conspiracy!

Some gasoline price facts for you conspiracy nuts. In every election from 1988 to 2004 (Presidential and off year) gasoline prices increased from June 31 to Oct 31. Except 1988 (no change) and Bush's election in 2000 (big decline in gas prices but not to anyone's real benefit since neither Bush or Gore were incumbents).
See the pattern? Neither do I.

Thank God for experts!

Let's see. Four months ago the experts told us "no way" gas prices will go down. I can't wait till their next prediction.....
Gas prices: No relief in sight - May. 19, 2006: "But given that the economy grew at a robust 4.8 percent in the first quarter, it's unlikely that $3 gas will lower demand enough to push gasoline prices back to $2.50 anytime soon."

A serious case of "don't get it".

Maybe it's because it's their job to make those decisions?
Message to editor: Don't insult readers: "GOP, Van Woerkom don't trust the voters
I don't think our state Sen. Gerald Van Woerkom trusts me, and neither do his fellow Republicans in the Senate. In fact, they don't seem to trust any of us. Why else would they suddenly decide to repeal the Single Business Tax (without much discussion or making any provisions for replacing the money) instead of putting it before the voters?
The SBT made up a large chunk of the state's operating fund, giving money to the public services we all use and depend on. This wasn't the first time the Republican-dominated Legislature has pushed through legislation that may or may not be a good idea.
I want a state senator in Lansing who is working for us, caring about us, acting on behalf of constituents, not in lieu of them. I'm voting for Julie Dennis in November.
Gordon Gutowski
Muskegon "

What a combo!

My Way - Sports News: "Roger Federer and Tiger Woods broke open two bottles of Dom Perignon and toasted - to a growing friendship, greatness and Grand Slams.
With his new best pal watching from a corner box, Federer rocketed a final forehand past Andy Roddick, then fell to his knees and flopped onto his back. He'd won his third straight U.S. Open title in convincing fashion, 6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 Sunday.
When it was over, Federer returned to the locker room, cracked open the champagne and spent an hour with perhaps the only other athlete on the planet who understands such sheer domination. "

Didn't see this in the Chronicle

Dick DeVos For Governor: "While Alticor makes products in Michigan and sells them in 80 countries and territories around the world, Governor Granholm's Small Business Jobs Recruiter owns a factory in China that exports products to the U.S.
Under Governor Granholm, Michigan buys Chinese-made Keno pencils for the Michigan lottery. (Detroit News; 6/26/05)
The Governor also supports MEGA grants that give incentives to Ford and GM while they are expanding operations overseas.
Because she has no political motivation to attack these Michigan companies, she only attacks Dick DeVos and Alticor. "

Special election to fill DeLay seat set for Nov. 7

Sounds like the GOPers trumped the happless Demos once again.
Special election to fill DeLay seat set for Nov. 7: "Gov. Rick Perry ordered on Tuesday a special election for the unexpired term of U.S. Rep. Tom DeLay to coincide with the general election Nov. 7, when only two months will remain on DeLay's term."

They wonder why we don't trust them any more...

Not the hole truth Herald Sun: "It's bad enough that friends of Hezbollah terrorists could trick so many journalists with just a tall story and a rusty Lebanese ambulance.
Worse is that some of those journalists seemed so eager to believe this ambulance was indeed wickedly blown up by an Israeli missile fired straight through the big red cross on its roof -- leaving not even a scorch mark.
But worst is that even now that this hoax has been exposed, none of the countless writers and commentators who fell for it have admitted to passing on as fact the propaganda of terrorists. "

"Hey, it's just a first draft!"

The Worst Analogies Ever Written in a High School Essay: "From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you're on vacation in another city and 'Jeopardy' comes on at 7 p.m. instead of 7:30. "

Granholm, terrorist enabler?

Chilling! Read the entire report.
Debbie Schlussel: "That is, unless you believe tourists take a bevy of photos of grates of a bridge, showing the bridge supports below, as reported by skilled WJRT-TV Flint investigative reporter Jeff Piechowski. Tourism photos? Hardly. So why did the Michigan State Police Chief lie? All politics. He works for Michigan lefty Governor Jennifer Granholm, who is in the back pocket of Michigan's Islamofascist community"
