' Well, pardon us, please, for being the skunk at the party, but why should anybody take seriously any of these White House PR campaigns to make Obama look responsible on the spending issue?

After all, in less than two years in the Oval Office, Obama had added more than $4 trillion to scheduled federal spending, driven the annual budget deficit from $467 billion in 2008 to nearly $1.6 trillion in 2010, and pushed the national debt from $10.6 trillion to more than $13 trillion."

American Thinker: America's Predicament
"America's public debt recently exceeded 13 trillion. This is more than 90 percent of the country's GDP.

Public debts of more than 60 percent of GDP are considered unhealthy. Public debts above 90 percent of GDP cause severe disruptions in the country's financial framework and the economy at large.

According to the Obama administration America's public debt will exceed 100 percent of GDP in the next fiscal year.

History shows that most countries whose debt exceeds this mark are rarely able to control it.

This level of indebtedness usually leads to currency debasement."

Headline of the Day: Public Sector Union Edition

Headline of the Day: Public Sector Union Edition - Hit & Run : Reason Magazine
"'Metrobus driver that punched McGruff the crime dog rehired'

That headline from today's Washington Examiner says a lot about the sorry state of public sector unionism in America.
From the story:
A Metrobus driver fired after a deadly crash into a taxi and another canned for slugging a cop dressed as McGruff the Crime Dog are back at Metro, The Washington Examiner has learned.

Both men won their jobs back plus months of retroactive pay, the result of an arbitration decision between the bus drivers union and the transit agency.

One driver is getting paid to sit at home while the agency determines where to place him.
The other is expected to return to driving a Metrobus later this month.

'Neither of these incidents should have ever happened,' Metro spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein said.
The agency stands behind its decisions to fire the drivers, but Farbstein said Metro does not believe it has legal grounds to overturn the arbitrators' rulings.

I'm noticing a very peculiar trend in restrooms lately.
In government buildings, I am seeing floor after floor in which there are two types of restrooms, labeled thusly:
Women's Restroom
and
Unisex Restroom

While it's not the biggest deal in the world, I find myself having no other choice than to use the unisex restroom, but I wondered why women would have restrooms which no one else is allowed to use.
Is this some sort of twisted implementation of 'potty parity'?

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held hearings Wednesday on the 'Potty Parity Act,' a bill that seeks to address the unequal number of restroom facilities for women in federal buildings by requiring at least a 1-to-1 ratio for toilets, including urinals, in women's and men's restrooms.

Obviously the elimination of men's rooms (by simply converting them to 'unisex') achieves such parity without much expense, because it allows women to use 100% of the toilets, while forbidding men from using half of them.
Unless men object, women are thus over-enabled, and the 'problem' is solved."

Don't be fooled by Obama's 'incompetence'

American Thinker Blog: Don't be fooled by Obama's 'incompetence'
It is a tremendous mistake to think that the disaster in the Gulf of Mexico will help convince Americans of Barack Obama's incompetence. Obama's true agenda is so insidious that even his inability to handle a crisis serves his greater strategy.
And that strategy has a name: it is the Cloward-Piven Strategy. Named for the two Leftist sociology professors who formulated it, its purpose is to bring about the demise of capitalism by overloading the system, largely by making more people desperate and dependent on the government.
Thus, Cloward-Piven's goals are served by more and more aliens flooding across the border and filling jails, emergency rooms and welfare rolls. It is also served by the mortgage crisis; in fact, Professors Cloward and Piven were the creators of ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now), which helped pressure banks to implement the lending policies that precipitated that crisis. But Cloward-Piven seeks a financial crisis far wider-ranging and more encompassing than a mere mortgage meltdown.
So if the oil spill in the Gulf manages to destroy the fishing and tourist industries in that region, shut down oil drilling, raise the price of oil and of food all over the country, and bring more and more Americans to a financial breaking point and thus dependent on food stamps and other government programs, Obama and Co. will smile and nod at one another as the Cloward-Piven strategy hums merrily along.
Anything that puts a greater strain on government services -- and the inability of those services, through incompetence and complex bureaucracy to actually improve things - advances the goals of Cloward-Piven. The more desperate and demoralized the American people become, and the more preoccupied we are with simple survival, the better our new "leaders" like it, and the closer they get to assuming total and complete control of every aspect of our lives.

You know the litany.

California is imploding.

Public sector unions there, and across the country, are swallowing budgets.

In California alone, pension costs have gone up 2,000% in a decade.

At the national level, ObamaCare has done little to fix — and much to hurt — America's long-term entitlement mess."

'Peace convoy'? This was an Islamist terror ambush

"It is becoming ever more clear that Islamist terror attacks like this are fiendishly staged theatrical events in which the western media – and beyond them, western governments -- play an absolutely essential role in the drama.

If those media and governments refused to swallow the lies and instead called operations like this and the players behind it for what they actually are, such terrorist operations would not happen.

The Islamist strategy of war against Israel is carefully calibrated to deploy the most effective weapon in its armoury in the cause of jihadi violence – the western media.

And so, courtesy of the west’s fifth columnists, yet another nail is driven into the west’s own coffin."

Big government and government employee unions.
Greece's problem is Europe's problem ... and following closely behind, America's problem, too.

We're all Greeks now.

There are too many government employees (one of every three Greek citizens works for government); their salaries are way too high; their bonuses can be described only as insane (2 months for each public employee); their pensions are ridiculous (retirement far too young and free health care for life); and their government jobs are guaranteed for life."
