LIBERTY REVIEW

LIBERTY REVIEW:
http://libertyreview76.blogspot.com/2014/07/american-dreamers-by-tammy-derouin.html
The desire to succeed comes from within, it’s human nature.  Competition is fuel and it drives an individual or a nation to push their limits.  Freedom to pursue your dreams puts you in the driver’s seat.  Where else but in America would an individual willingly strap himself in the cockpit of a rocket, on a launch pad, pointed at the heavens, and wait for just the right amount of fuel and fire to blastoff into the unknown?

Multiply this outrage by thousands--------Patent workers paid to exercise, shop, do chores: report

Patent workers paid to exercise, shop, do chores: report - Washington Times
Dozens of employees working for an obscure federal agency went years with little work to do, allowing them to collect salaries and bonuses while they shopped online, caught up on chores, watched television or walked the dog, an investigation revealed Tuesday.
The probe by the Commerce Department’s inspector general found that paralegals at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s appeals board were paid more than $5 million for their time even though there was so little work for them to do that supervisors didn’t care how they used it.

“I almost don’t blame [paralegals] for watching TV because, I mean, you’re sitting around for 800 hours,” one chief judge told the investigators, who found that supervisors not only tolerated the problem but in one instance admonished an employee who complained about the lack of work.
The idle paralegals nonetheless managed to take home more than a half-million dollars in performance bonuses from 2009 to 2013, before the agency hired enough judges to increase the workload, according to the report.

Real Unemployment Rate Is at Least 18 Percent

Real Unemployment Rate Is at Least 18 Percent - Peter Morici - Townhall Finance Conservative Columnists and Financial Commentary - Page full:
"A recent study by the Center for Immigration Studies indicates that virtually all the new jobs created since 2000 went to immigrants, whereas none were created for native-born Americans.
Adding in discouraged adults who say they would begin looking for work if conditions were better, those working part-time but say they want full time work, and the effects of immigration, the unemployment rate becomes about 15 percent—and that is a lower bound estimate.
Many young people are being duped both by unscrupulous for profit, post-secondary institutions—as well as accredited colleges and universities with low admission standards—to enroll in useless programs.
They would likely be in the labor force now but for easy access to federally sponsored loans and will end up heavily in debt.
Adding in these students, the real unemployment rate among U.S. citizens and permanent residents is at least 18 percent."

Articles: How Litigating Lost E-mails Works

Articles: How Litigating Lost E-mails Works:
"On July 4, 2014, I wrote an article, “Litigating Lost E-mails,” which proposed using federal judges to compel corrupt bosses to the IRS to force the Obama administration to tell the truth about the “lost” e-mails or face the consequences of lying to federal judges.
What I proposed was to do what Democrats did forty years ago this month to Nixon.  The case filed against Nixon in United States District Court was decided on May 31, 1974, and the case was argued before the Supreme Court on July 8, 1974.  The unanimous decision (Justice Rehnquist recused himself) was decided barely two weeks later on July 24, 1974.
The political impact of that decision was immediate and seismic.  Fifteen days after the decision, Richard Nixon became the first president to resign from office.  Three months later, Republicans suffered enormous losses, which included not only Congress, but also state legislative races, where Republicans saw the number of state legislatures they controlled drop from 16 to 5, or almost nonexistence.
Two federal judges in the last couple of weeks have issued very plain, direct, and uncompromising orders to the IRS with tight timeframes.  As I noted in my earlier article, there is no good response the IRS can make to these orders.  Judges – really, any judge – deeply resent being lied to with a straight face."

'Straight White Guy Festival' supposedly set for Ohio park

'Straight White Guy Festival' supposedly set for Ohio park - Washington Times:
"An Ohio park that often hosts gay pride events is deviating from that vein with a festival set for September that celebrates heterosexuality — from the viewpoint of white males.
The “Straight White Guy Festival” is scheduled for Goodale Park in Clintonville, a local CBS affiliate reported.
Flyers for the event say beer will be sold, but illegal drugs aren’t welcome.
Critics have already begun railing against the event.
“This kind of think implies there’s some kind of struggle going on for being a straight white person in Ohio,” gay marriage activist Michael Premo told the news station. “Straight white people are doing just fine.
I think it detracts from the real problems of Ohio that need to be solved, that are being denied their constitutional rights because of who they are, or who they love.”"

Lessons from the Death of the Aussie Carbon Tax

Lessons from the Death of the Aussie Carbon Tax - Reason.com: "
But contrary to green expectations, the tax didn't prompt companies to rush toward renewable sources, because they are far costlier.

Rather, utilities passed their costs to households—whose energy bills soared by 20 percent in the first year. Other industries that face hyper-competitive environment such as airlines suffered massive losses. (Virgin Australia alone reported $27 million in losses in just six months.) The tax also made Australian exports globally uncompetitive, deepening the country's recession economic slump.*

This spawned a backlash that brought down the Labor government and catapulted into office the Liberal Party's Tony Abbott, who made a "blood promise" to ditch the tax, which he did promptly once elected, despite warnings that Aussie lowlands are more vulnerable to rising sea levels and other dire consequences of global warming than other countries.

Europe's cap-and-trade program has managed to hang on, but only by neutering itself. The program hands companies an annual emission allowance. If they exceed it, they have to buy more on the open market or invest in clean technologies.

But the program handed out far too many allowances for free initially, causing their price to repeatedly crash. Worse, the European Parliament last year refused to scale back the allowances as planned for fear of prolonging the recession.

The upshot is that despite spending $287 billion, Europe has little to show for it. (Australia's tax at least reduced its carbon emissions 1.5 percent in the first year). According to a study by UBS, Switzerland's biggest bank the program has had "almost zero impact" on emissions—challenging the much more rosy assessments of the European Commission."

Two weeks ago, Obama celebrated the Muslim holiday of Ramadan in the White House."

The Truth Behind that 1-in-5 College Women are Raped Statistic

The Truth Behind that 1-in-5 College Women are Raped Statistic
The oft-cited statistic that “one in five women is sexually assaulted by the end of her college career” has become a battle cry for those pushing for strict and severe sexual assault campus policies.
The statistic that 20 percent of all coeds will be sexually assaulted or raped before they leave college was taken from a 2007 study conducted by the Justice Department, and it paints a truly horrifying picture.
The problem is, the statistic is flimsy and unsubstantiated at best – and maliciously manipulated as a means to an end at worst.

The Obama Admin Just Proved How Corrupt It Is, And What They Did Will Make You Want To Scream: "What’s more, a recent study of college graduates shows that those who entered the workforce during the great recession might never make the same wages as their peers who graduated just a few years earlier.
All told, the future looks bleak… That is, unless you happen to be an Obama donor.
That’s right. Even in the midst of a sluggish economy, Obama donors have been scoring incredible windfalls.

Well worth the read-----The Absurd, Bureaucratic Hell That Is the American Police State

Commentary: The Absurd, Bureaucratic Hell That Is the American Police State:
"Whether it’s the working mother arrested for letting her 9-year-old play unsupervised at a playground, the teenager forced to have his genitals photographed by police,
the underage burglar sentenced to 23 years for shooting a retired police dog,
or the 43-year-old man who died of a heart attack after being put in a chokehold by NYPD officers allegedly over the sale of untaxed cigarettes,
the theater of the absurd that passes for life in the American police state grows more tragic and incomprehensible by the day."

Are You On A Government Watchlist?

Are You On A Government Watchlist? | Ben Swann Truth In Media:
"Placement on the TIDE or TSDB must be based on “articulable intelligence or information”.
The document also says “single source information” such as posts on social media sites “should not automatically be discounted”.
Under the guidelines if you are suspected of terrorism ties your family and “associates” can also be placed on the list.
Another worrisome detail of the document is known as “threat-based expedited upgrade.”
This upgrade is unilaterally initiated by the assistant to the president for homeland security and counterterrorism and allows for whole “categories of people” to be placed on the list based on intelligence that a certain type of person may commit terrorism.
If the upgrade is approved by senior officials it could potentially last until “until the threat no longer exists.” The lack of oversight creates a situation where individuals could be placed on the list and left on indefinitely.
The guidelines also state that after a suspect has been acquitted of terrorism-related crimes they can remain on the list, even after death.
The authorities state that it is common practice for terrorists to use names of the deceased as aliases in an attempt to go unnoticed.
For this reason you may find yourself on a watchlist in the afterlife."
