Local officials: Closing Muskegon County Airport's control tower wouldn't stop flights | MLive.com
"If the air control tower is shut down, pilots will have to coordinate landings and takeoffs themselves, via radio – the same operating procedure they currently use when the Muskegon tower shuts down for the night.
“Operationally, it won’t have an impact,” said Airport Manager Marty Piette. 
“I don’t think it would hurt the airport.”"
