Turning Point

The American flag is a symbol of freedom and at one time, a
symbol of unwavering strength. I truly
hope we are just dealing with a temporary ailment. We ignored some very important signs because
we didn’t want to face reality. Much
like knowing something is internally wrong but putting off going to the doctor
because you don’t want confirmation. For
a time, it’s easier to live in a world of make believe. By not facing reality, you somehow convince
yourself that everything is just fine.
There comes a turning point.
You can no longer ignore the cold, hard evidence. You eventually come to the conclusion that
life is worth the upcoming battle. It’s
better to know the truth so you know how to fight the disease which has
infected your body. You hope it’s not
too late as you begin to ask, why did I wait so long?
Our once healthy, vibrant nation has been infected with a
life-threatening disease. Some noticed
signs right away but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. After all, the fundamental transformation of
America, in true transparency, is really difficult to comprehend. Some are still coming to the realization that
something is wrong, while others are still stuck in denial.
Probably the most difficult aspect is realizing it was a
self-inflicted disease. We all bear a
certain amount of responsibility. We
didn’t pay attention and assumed those we elected had our best interests in
mind. We voted without asking questions
and allowed the press to be the enabler.
They should have exposed questionable signs but instead they twisted it
into a pretty picture or buried it altogether. We went against our better judgment
when something didn’t make sense. Sometimes the wait-and-see strategy only
makes things worse...
