"Virtually all real estate projects of note in Detroit involving a public contribution of land or tax incentives would be affected by either of the proposed community benefits ordinances making waves in the development community in recent weeks that appear bound for the November ballot.
Image result for extortionThe proposals would require developers to incorporate certain so-called community benefits, such as jobs, local hiring and environmental protections, in projects of a certain size if they receive public funding or city-owned land.
Some of the proposed provisions are making the development community leery about things like too much control of real estate projects and delays in an already time-intensive business..."
