Justice Department Grants $8.5 Million to the Victims of Orlando Night Club Shooting
The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting will receive an $8.5 million anti-terrorism grant to aid financial and emotional support. The money will help provide mental health counseling to victims, witnesses, and first responders, as well as reimburse the costs of the United Assistance Center.
Image result for free moneyThe grant was giving to Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi’s office and will be distributed over 27-months.
Weeks after the massacre, Two Spirit Health Services provided volunteer mental health counseling. President Dr. David Baker-Hargrove told the Orlando Sentinel:
"This is really good news. We all kind of anticipated that the federal government would at some point be able to step in and provide some long-term relief.”
The grant also will reimburse local charities who acted on-site to provide assistance to the victims and families, according to the Sentinel.
