The U.S. Department of Education as a separate entity was formed in 1980.
1992 High School graduates were the first to complete all 12 years of school under the new Dept. Of Education, they are now 45 years of age.
The 55 year olds in the graphic finished High School in 1975, 5 years before the Department went into effect.
Plus in the 1980’s we ranked #1 in education In the world , now 18-20th."
