"KALAMAZOO, MI — In mid-April, there were about 35 tents clustered together in groups of two to five scattered around Kalamazoo’s largest homeless encampment, some a decent walk from one another.

Now, two months later, a beaten-down footpath wide enough to drive cars through forms a track around the inside perimeter of the Ampersee Avenue encampment.
