"They took it lugs and all"

Oceana's Herald-Journal
"Approximately 250 pounds of picked asparagus was reported stolen to the Michigan State Police May 26.
MSP Sgt. Mike Cookenmaster said the asparagus was along the roadside in the vicinity of Jackson Road and 200th Avenue in Colfax Township waiting to be picked up.
“They took it lugs and all,” Cookenmaster said.
The theft was reported by Ken Oomen, he said. Large quantity asparagus thefts are not common, Cookenmaster said, but some growers might have small quantities taken from fields.
The incident remains under investigation."

Plan for Muskegon County's economic development growth being designed Friday

Plan for Muskegon County's economic development growth being designed Friday MLive.com
"A consultant hired by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency will be here Friday to help the Muskegon community design a road map for “smart growth.”
Muskegon County was one of only 32 communities in the nation selected this year to receive the technical assistance regarding economic development.
The specific program selected for Muskegon County is focused on identifying strategies and policies across all local governmental units to promote business expansion and retention.

The meeting, scheduled for Muskegon Community College's Collegiate Hall, is broken into two sessions.
The public is encouraged to attend the morning session, beginning at 9 a.m., while the afternoon session is geared toward local governmental officials.
By the end of the meeting, the consultant and local officials are expected to create an action plan and look for ways to build community consensus for a course of action involving the community's economic stability."

TOMORROW 9 a.m.!

"Will changing the shape of food guidelines get Americans in better shape?
The Obama administration hopes so.
Today, they unveiled a replacement for the food pyramid -- and this time they are using a circle."

The answer to the question is NO!

But these same government functionaries who scream for government to keep out of our bedrooms now want the feds in our kitchens 3 times a day.

I wonder if they will make a "snack plate" so the can live in our kitchens 24/7.

"Like last year, nearly one in five motorists were found unfit to drive"

It took a government funded "study" to figure that out?

And guess what ALWAYS follows a government funded study that concludes people aren't smart enough to do something?

Yep! More federal/state money to make the people "smarter".

That always works...right?

Get Ready for QE3

Get Ready for QE3 NetRight Daily
"Times columnist Paul Krugman too jumps into the fray for his part.
He wants “W.P.A.-type programs putting the unemployed to work doing useful things like repairing roads… a serious program of mortgage modification, reducing the debts of troubled homeowners… [and] [w]e could try to get inflation back up to the 4 percent rate”.

Basically, the Left wants more of the same — more “stimulus”—which has already failed.
We know that because of the 4.2 percent decline in home values in the first quarter as measured by the S&P/Case Shiller home price index."

Off the 'gravy train'

Off the 'gravy train' - Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
"'The debate about global warming has reached ridiculous proportions and is full of micro-thin half-truths and misunderstandings,' he says.
'I am a scientist who was on the carbon gravy train, understands the evidence, was once an alarmist, but am now a skeptic.'

Empirical evidence from the '90s showed that CO2 is not the primary driver of global temperatures, Evans says.
'(R)ather than admit they were wrong, the governments, and their tame climate scientists, now outrageously maintain the fiction that carbon dioxide is a dangerous pollutant.'

Naturally, Evans has been vilified by other 'experts' because of his remarks.

But, as with other skeptics, his assertions are dismissed, not debated.

It is, as Evans says, a comfortable gravy train for all aboard."

Public School Paradox: Record spending, mass teacher layoffs

"The Mackinac Center for Public Policy reports that in 2010 Michigan’s public school revenue totaled $19.4 billion.
That averages to $11,661 spent per student on day-to-day operating expenditures, and represents a 1.5 percent increase from 2009.
Despite the increase in overall spending, there is a steady drumbeat of news stories about how cash-strapped Michigan school districts are being forced to lay off teachers.
How can this be?"
