North Korea Tells Citizens to Prepare Themselves for Famine

North Korea Tells Citizens to Prepare Themselves for Famine | TIME
"The road to revolution is long and arduous"
North Korea instructed the country Monday to brace itself for possible famine and severe economic hardship — but not to despair, because “the road to revolution is long and arduous,” according to an editorial in the state-run newspaper.
The article, published in Rodong Sinmun — the print mouthpiece of the North Korean government — comes less than a month after the U.N. Security Council voted in favor of slapping the Hermit Kingdom with tougher sanctions, after the country teased its potential nuclear and military capabilities earlier this year.
The editorial stated that hardships to come might evoke another “arduous march” — the term assigned to the famine that struck the country in the mid-1990s, killing as many as 3 million people, reports the Telegraph, a British newspaper.
“We may have to go on an arduous march, during which we will have to chew the roots of plants once again,” the editorial piece read.
Rodong Sinmun called for a “70-day campaign of loyalty” and reportedly demanded that the North Korean people demonstrate their allegiance to Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un.
To that end, the country is requiring all residents of Pyongyang, North Korea’s capital city, to deliver about 2 lb. of rice to state warehouses each month.
The Telegraph reports that the country has also requested nearly half a million tons of food aid from other countries.
As of last month, however, only 17,600 tons had arrived."

Chicago Teachers Union threatens members who cross picket line

Chicago Teachers Union threatens members who cross picket line | EAGnews.org:
"CHICAGO – The Chicago Teachers Union is threating members who don’t want to walk out on their students April 1.
The CTU is planning a “Day of Action” for April Fool’s Day, and some teachers are complaining that union officials are threatening to kick them out of the union if they don’t participate, DNAinfo reports.
“It was said to me as a matter of fact that the consequences of choosing to come to school is being kicked out of the union,” a South Side high school teacher who did not want to be identified told the news site.
“I’m furious about the whole thing.”
Other educators also spoke up, though none were willing to give their name out of fear that CTU leadership will retaliate.
“’How do I get out of being part of this debacle?
Is a question being asked in teacher lounges at schools across the city,” a grade school teacher said, adding she’s “morally and ethically” against a walkout.
Teachers who are kicked out of their union must continue to pay union fees but do not receive the same benefits as full members.
If non-union teachers don’t cough up the cash, most union contracts allow union officials to require the district to terminate their employment..."

Homegrown Nuclear Terrorism in Belgium Proves Cruz Right

Homegrown Nuclear Terrorism in Belgium Proves Cruz Right:

"This is no joke. This is probably the closest thing to nuclear terrorism we’ve witnessed in the age of jihad, and the plot was hatched in a western country by children of Islamic immigrants born in Belgium.
If you think for one minute this problem is limited to Europe, think again. Every week there is another incident of a homegrown terrorist arrested in any one of our fifty states on charges of aiding ISIS or some other radical Islamic group."

Islamist Terror Growing in Lethality and Geography

Islamist Terror Growing in Lethality and Geography, IPT Analysis Finds :: The Investigative Project on Terrorism:
The massacres in Brussels and Paris are only the latest salvos in a heightening and devastating threat from radical Islamists globally.
They illustrate troubling and much larger trends that the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT) has identified in a new analysis based upon its extensive research, sources and multiple databases, including the University of Maryland Global Terrorism Database.
The IPT's analysis reached the following conclusions:
    • Islamist attacks in Europe will increase over the next 18 to 24 months.
    • Terrorism in Africa will expand numerically and geographically.
    • Radical Islamists will further destabilize the Middle East, targeting specifically Jordan, Turkey and Saudi Arabia.
    • Jihadists will expand their efforts and focus in South and Southeast Asia.
IPT research found that on average of 3,284 people died in Islamist terror attacks only five years ago.
Today, that average is 28,708 per year....
Looking ahead, the IPT is pessimistic that the numbers will improve in the short and medium term. They are based on the following critical trends identified in the data.
Trend 1: Islamist Terror Engulfs More Lives

This Stunning Chart Shows How Trump's Border Wall Will Stop Illegal Immigration

This Stunning Chart Shows How Trump's Border Wall Will Stop Illegal Immigration
There have been a lot of arguments put forth about Trump’s border wall idea.
Some say such a wall will do nothing to stem the tide of illegal immigrants crossing into the United States through our southern border.
Others argue that the hundreds of miles of border can only be secured by a well constructed barrier.
The following chart from The Daily Caller should put any debate over the matter to rest.
The data is compiled from immigration statistics by the Hungarian Police and shows that not only does such a wall work, it begins working almost instantly.
Several European countries have erected fences to keep migrants out, and, according to the numbers, every case appears to have a large impact.

When the fence went up Oct. 17, the influx went down to 870 from 6,353 only a day earlier. Illegal border crossing were steadily below 40 per day throughout the rest of the month

          The numbers speak for themselves.
We now have proof of concept for how to mitigate and eliminate the immigration crisis facing the United States.
Are our elected officials prepared to step up and do what needs to be done?"

Footage taken by a helicopter Wednesday at Will Rogers Airport The United Airlines flight looked as if it would overshoot the runway
Strong winds twisted the plane as it came in to land However the pilot managed to straighten up the aircraft in time
This is the incredible moment that a pilot manages to successfully land a plane in Oklahoma City in strong 60 mph winds.
A video taken by a KFOR-TV's Bob Moore Chopper 4 shows the United Airlines flight being pushed away from the runway as it came in to land in the far-from-ideal conditions on Wednesday afternoon.
As the plane approached the runway, it is clearly thrown off course by the wind, and looks as if it might overshoot its landing.
The plane appears to be veering to the right of the runway as it sets down.
The footage shows the aircraft shaking and struggling to get on track.
However, without seconds to spare, the pilot manages to straighten the plane up, and it makes a bumpy landing.
The landing was a great feat by the pilot, given the conditions.
The video was taken at Will Rogers Airport.

Peeling the rotting onion-----City wants to pump $30 million into Detroit pension funds to address shortfall

City wants to pump $30 million into Detroit pension funds to address shortfall - Crain's Detroit Business:
"The city could set aside $30 million this year three times as much as initially planned — to cover an estimated $500 million pension shortfall, Detroit's CFO John Hill said Monday.
Hill revealed the more aggressive plan to deal with surprise budget problem first disclosed during Mayor Mike Duggan's State of the City address in February — a problem that emerged despite Detroit filing bankruptcy three years ago and shedding $7 billion in debt.
The payment is part of an overall plan to contribute as much as $70 million in the short-term to deal with a pension shortfall that must be repaid starting in 2024.
Duggan blamed the shortfall on an unnamed bankruptcy consultant using outdated mortality tables to calculate life expectancy of city retirees.
...Meanwhile, the city is trying to pinpoint the exact size of the shortfall.
The city is close to hiring a firm to conduct pension and actuarial services.
A firm could be selected in two weeks, Hill said.
"The number is about $500 million higher than expected," Hill told commissioners.
"What we really want to come out of this contract is what that range is going to be..."

Corporate Debt Defaults Explode To Catastrophic Levels Not Seen Since The Last Financial Crisis

Corporate Debt Defaults Explode To Catastrophic Levels Not Seen Since The Last Financial Crisis
"If a new financial crisis had already begun, we would expect to see corporate debt defaults skyrocket, and that is precisely what is happening.
As you will see below, corporate defaults are currently at the highest level that we have seen since 2009.
A wave of bankruptcies is sweeping the energy industry, but it isn’t just the energy industry that is in trouble.
In fact, the average credit rating for U.S. corporations is now lower than it was at any point during the last recession.
This is yet another sign that we are in the early chapters of a major league economic crisis.
Yesterday I talked about how 23.2 percent of all Americans in their prime working years do not have a job right now, but today I am going to focus on the employers.
Big corporate giants all over America are in deep, deep financial trouble, and this is going to result in a tremendous wave of layoffs in the coming months.
We should rejoice that U.S. stocks have rebounded a bit in the short-term, but the euphoria in the markets is not doing anything to stop the wave of corporate defaults that is starting to hit Wall Street like a freight train.
Zero Hedge is reporting that we have not seen this many corporate defaults since the extremely painful year of 2009…"

Why Are Millennial Men Such Wimps? | PJ Media:
Ladies -- sick of posturing hipsters still living in mom's basement while they role-play their lives away, in between trying to pick up chicks with somebody else's money? You're not alone:
Last week, Tomi Lahren, a 23-year-old political commentator for The Blaze, ended her show by raising the following question:
“Is it just me, or have men gotten really soft these days?”
          She goes on:
“This has nothing to do with sexuality. It has to do with the helplessness of today’s young men. It seems few can change a light bulb let alone fix a flat tire or change oil, and that makes for pretty slim pickings for the females out there looking for a match.
Chivalry is all but dead, and so is manliness. And by the way, wearing a flannel shirt and having a beard doesn’t make you a man if you still can’t change a tire and are scared of the dark. It seems like millennial men either don’t have jobs or are still using their parents’ credit cards to buy us drinks at the bar…
So whose fault is it? Is it our fault, ladies? Are we getting too strong? Nah, I don’t buy that. See, a real man knows how to handle a strong woman, so this isn’t our problem. Maybe it’s the way boys are raised these days: fatherless homes and no male role models. It’s hard to learn how to be a man with no man around.”
“Please teach your sons to be men, because the women of the world are tired of the boys.”

Islands trying to use 100% green energy failed, went back to diesel

Islands trying to use 100% green energy failed, went back to diesel:
"The islands of Tasmania and El Hierro tried to power their economies with 100 percent green energy, but both islands eventually went back to diesel generators after suffering reliability problems and soaring energy costs.
These islands may be on opposite sides of the Earth, but they became poster children for environmentalists campaigning for countries to ditch fossil fuels.
The fact remains that Tasmania and El Hierro saw their energy sectors become costly failures after going green, according to the free market Institute for Energy Research (IER) published Thursday.
“One of the biggest reasons that natural gas, oil, and coal are the world’s most-used energy resources is because they are incredibly reliable,” Daniel Simmons, vice president for policy at IER, told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
“By the same token, wind struggles to compete with conventional fuels because it is inherently unreliable.”
...El Hierro was supposed to be the poster child for 100 percent green energy.
The island, located in the Spanish Canary Islands, replaced its diesel power plant with a hybrid wind power and pumped hydro storage system worth $94 million in 2014.
The system has only been active since June of 2015.
The expensive system, however, provided an unpredictable amount of power and couldn’t even electrify the entire island.
...The sheer unpredictability of the system damages the island’s electrical grid and forces the island to rely on the diesel power it was supposed to replace..."

23 Percent Of Americans In Their Prime Working Years Are Unemployed

23 Percent Of Americans In Their Prime Working Years Are Unemployed:
"Did you know that when you take the number of working age Americans that are officially unemployed (8.2 million) and add that number to the number of working age Americans that are considered to be “not in the labor force” (94.3 million), that gives us a grand total of 102.5 million working age Americans that do not have a job right now?
I have written about this before, but today I want to focus just on Americans that are in their prime working years.
When you look at only Americans that are from age 25 to age 54, 23.2 percent of them are unemployed right now.
The following analysis and chart come from the Weekly Standard

Here’s a chart showing those in that age group currently employed (95.6 million) and those who aren’t (28.9 million):

“There are 124.5 million Americans in their prime working years (ages 25–54).

Nearly one-quarter of this group—28.9 million people, or 23.2 percent of the total—is not currently employed.
They either became so discouraged that they left the labor force entirely, or they are in the labor force but unemployed.
This group of non-employed individuals is more than 3.5 million larger than before the recession began in 2007,” writes the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee.
...What are we to make of all this?
For both men and women in their prime working years, the inactivity rate is even higher than it was during the last recession and is hovering near the all-time record.
All of these people neither have a job nor are they looking for one.
So what in the world is going on here?
          Are they independently wealthy?
Have these people found rich spouses to marry so they don’t have to work?
No, the truth is that the middle class in America is steadily eroding and poverty is absolutely exploding

Credit card debt has soared to a new record high, and 48 percent of all U.S. adults under the age of 30 believe that “the American Dream is dead”.
The issue isn’t that people don’t want to work.
The issue is that people cannot find enough work..."
