Florida shooting shows our government institutions are failing us

Florida shooting shows our government institutions are failing us:
"From the FBI to local law enforcement to the schools, every institution failed.
We have more government than ever, but it isn't working.
See the source imageThe chief problem facing America today is the decline of its institutions, coupled with the denial of that decline by the people in charge of its institutions.
The latest example of this problem is the Parkland school shooting in Florida.
From the FBI, to local law enforcement, to the schools, everyone failed.
There was failure early, there was failure in the middle, and there was failure late.
And no one has taken responsibility.
It’s not as if there weren’t warning signs.
...Despite Broward Sheriff Scott Israel’s all-out attack on the NRA the night before Peterson's inaction became public, this debacle illustrates why so many Americans want to own guns, and aren’t comfortable relying solely on “trained professional law enforcement officers” like Scot Peterson.
As Jim Geraghty writes in National Review, “the Parkland shooting is proving to be a colossal cascading failure of both local and federal law enforcement.
...People are being asked to trust the government to keep them safe, when the government is patently unable to do so.
And then, when the government fails, it engages in blame-shifting deflection.
Why should people listen?
Increasingly, they won’t."

How liberals use the latest school shooting to demonize gun ownership - Washington Times

How liberals use the latest school shooting to demonize gun ownership - Washington Times:

Image result for Second Amendment"The reaction to the latest school shooting could have been predicted and is unfolding in just the way the massacre at Newtown, Connecticut, did back in 2013. Progressive politicians and their friends in the media are blaming not the shooter or those who ignored warnings about him or the lack of school security, but the National Rifle Association and the right of law-abiding Americans to purchase and own firearms.
They’re riding a wave of public outrage that we all understand and fueling it with liberal money from their Hollywood friends while the media exploits the victims and their families to demand the very same things they were demanding after the Newtown shootings."

The Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Janus v. AFSCME today, the case that will decide whether government unions still have the right to force non-members to support their inherently political activities. My organization, CEI, has a video explaining what’s at stake:

Some of you might remember that I wrote about this sort of thing at length in my last book, Stealing You Blind."

NRA accuses companies of 'cowardice' after severing ties under threat of boycott - Washington Times:

Image result for flickr commons images 2nd amendment"In response, the NRA accused the companies of trying to “punish our members who are doctors, farmers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, nurses, shop owners and school teachers that live in every American community.”
“Let it be absolutely clear,” said the NRA. “The loss of a discount will neither scare nor distract one single NRA member from our mission to stand and defend the individual freedoms that have always made America the greatest nation in the world.”
Supporters came to the NRA’s defense by sharing photos of their membership confirmations."

Schools That Already Have Armed Teachers Show the Way for Schools That Don't | Breitbart

Schools That Already Have Armed Teachers Show the Way for Schools That Don't | Breitbart
"School districts that already have armed teachers stand out as an example for what schools with “gun-free” designations can do to ensure student safety.
For example, Fox 5 reports that Texas has 1,000 school districts, and approximately 170 of those districts allow teachers and school staff to be armed on campus for self-defense.
See the source imageThese armed districts do not make news with reports of accidental shootings, students getting their teachers’ guns, or armed faculty committing crimes on campus.
Rather, they enjoy not making news, as the deterrent of having certain teachers armed appears to make attackers think twice before striking.
...Teachers in South Dakota are being trained and carrying guns under that state’s “School Sentinel” program, and teachers in Utah have been carrying guns on campus for self-defense for over 15 years.
On June 26, 2017, Breitbart News reported that a number of Colorado school teachers were enrolled in FASTER–Faculty/Administrator Safety Training and Emergency Response–so they can carry guns on campus for defense of themselves and their students.
And there are numerous school districts with armed teachers in Ohio and other states around the country as well..."

Additionally, First National Bank of Omaha, one of the country’s largest privately held banks, also announced it would end its credit-card co-branding deal with the NRA. "

Even a police loudspeaker could have disrupted the Parkland killer

Even a police loudspeaker could have disrupted the Parkland killer:
Even a police loudspeaker could have disrupted the Parkland killer-By James Lewis
"Now we hear that there was a cop on the school grounds in Florida, and four deputies were outside the school, waiting for backup.
Some people are blaming the cops, but even an armed cop has to have the tactical advantage to go in shooting.
See the source imageWe talk about guns, but we never talk about courage and tactical skill.
...What the school cop and the waiting deputies could have done is psychological disruption, to distract and scare the killer and alert the students.
For that, all you need is a high-powered loudspeaker mounted on a police car and a plan on how to use it.
...For first responders in an unknown shooter situation, the cops don't even have to get physically into the combat zone.
All they have to do is make the killer think they are there.
...a determined strongman (or a latter-day killer) with a gun can be badly disrupted by loud, fast-onset noise, a loud, authoritative voice, flash-bang grenades built into existing fire alarms, and hidden security cameras in all the halls and rooms.
Surprise and fear works with psy-ops.
THIS IS THE POLICE.  FREEZE!  FREEZE!  FREEZE!
DO NOT MOVE!
YOU HAVE FIVE SECONDS TO DROP YOUR WEAPON.
ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE...
...and then all hell seems to break loose.
If a shooter is taken by surprise with a purely psychological attack, it will take minutes for him to re-orient; check out his position; dive into a closet or hit the ground; or, best of all run off.
Meanwhile, innocent bystanders will get more time to escape and rally..."

"CalPERS Is Near Insolvency; It Needs A Bailout Soon" - Former Board Member Makes Stunning Admission | Zero Hedge

See the source image"CalPERS Is Near Insolvency; It Needs A Bailout Soon" - Former Board Member Makes Stunning Admission | Zero Hedge:
"...In a brief discussion wondering what municipalities and states will do when local tax revenues decline and unemployment worsens, Hunt said "we're worried about those pension obligations.”
He is hardly alone: having reported over and over and over (and over, and over) again that public pensions are in deep trouble, two days ago none other than Steve Westly, former California controller and Calpers board member - manager of the largest public pension fund in the US, made a stunning admission, confirming everything:
The pension crisis is inching closer by the day. @CalPERS just voted to increase the amount cities must pay to the agency. Cities point to possible insolvency if payments keep rising but CalPERS is near insolvency itself. It may be reform or bailout soon.http://ow.ly/CQGw30iyLko
As we have reported previously, the Calpers system, once more than 100 percent funded, now has scarcely two-thirds of what it would need to fully cover all of the pension promises to current and future retirees.
And that assumes it will hit an investment earnings target of 7%per year, that many authorities criticize as being too optimistic..."

Barack Obama's real debt and deficit legacy - Washington Times

Barack Obama's real debt and deficit legacy - Washington Times:

Image result for wikicommons images obama"But Mr. Obama made the deficit hundreds of billions of dollars worse with a stimulus plan that by the administration’s own admission didn’t create a single new job. (The number of jobs in 2009, 2010, and 2011 was lower than Mr. Obama’s economists predicted we would get if we had done nothing and not wasted $800 billion.
Mr. Obama’s failed presidency is being falsely lionized in other ways as well. The new spin from the left is that Mr. Obama saved the U.S. from a second great depression, when in fact he gave America the weakest recovery from a recession since the Great Depression. He also left Mr. Trump with an economy that was crawling at 1.6 percent— which is why many people thought we were headed to another recession."

They're not just nuts, they are nasty!-----Social Justice Warrior Wants Veterans Banned From Universities

Social Justice Warrior Wants Veterans Banned From Universities
"A Social Justice Warrior at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS) has declared in a school newsletter article that veterans should be banned from four-year universities because of their affiliation with “extremist right-wing groups” and tendency to “frighten” LGBT students.
The author, Terry Steinawitz, argues that veterans should be banned from all four-year universities because veterans “openly mock the ideas of diversity and safe spaces,” are socialized into a military culture that is “that of a white supremacist organization,” frighten students by having an “overwhelming presence in the classroom” that can distract “vulnerable” students, especially “LGBTQQI2SSA” individuals, and have ties to groups like the Tea Party and NRA.
...The article concludes that banning veterans is necessary “in order to protect our academic institutions.”
