The most interesting part is about healthcare.
Norberg implores the U.S. not to go to single payer because all of the single payer countries are “parasiting” off of the United States, using their innovation and technology because in a single payer system there is none of that.
There’s no money.
In fact, there’s massive rationing of healthcare.
This was comrade Bernie's tag line during the democrat debates... "Socialism works for Sweden and we should emulate the Scandinavian model." http://dailycaller.com/…/bernie-sanders-the-us-should-be-m…/
But Denmark lashed back at Sanders and said, No Bernie, we're not Socialists any longer, it failed. https://www.investors.com/…/denmark-tells-bernie-sanders-t…/
No, Bernie Sanders, Scandinavia is not a socialist utopia...

What's also not touched in this argument is how Europe's massive welfare state is imploding after they let millions of Muslim and African refugees flood into their countries who have 5 times more kids as native Europeans.
Their resources are being drained and many of these new arrivals are not working.
This is where the Left wants to take America.
Don't let it happen!"

American prosperity of Trump era marks real turning point in history | TheHill

Image result for free clip art one step forwardAmerican prosperity of Trump era marks real turning point in history | TheHill:
The latest GDP figure is a great number that aids our recovery from the awful 16 years under Bush and Obama. It will also reduce deficits in the long term if such robust economic growth continues. But the challenge is far from over. We have a lot of work to do to fan the flames of prosperity and to hold at bay the prosperity killers. But one step forward is still one step forward, and it is a heck of a lot better than one step backward.

Puerto Rico reaches deal to restructure $3B of power debt

Puerto Rico reaches deal to restructure $3B of power debt:
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — Puerto Rico’s government reached a deal Monday night with a bondholder group to restructure more than a third of the debt owed by its troubled power company as the utility moves toward privatization.
Image result for Puerto Rico reaches deal to restructure $3B of power debt...Officials said bondholders that hold more than $3 billion in debt from Puerto Rico’s Electric Power Authority would exchange it for two new bonds.
One would be exchanged at 67.5 cents on the dollar, while the other would be exchanged at 10 cents on the dollar and would be linked to Puerto Rico’s economic recovery.
...The deal marks the first time Puerto Rico will not pay a revenue bond in full, and it could have consequences beyond the U.S. territory, including higher interest rates on those types of bonds, he said.
...Some 200 customers remain in the dark more than 10 months after the hit as Puerto Rico struggles to emerge from an 11-year recession.

Flint Lead ‘Poisoning’: Medical Evidence Encouraging | National Review
Image result for flint water crisis"The city’s kids made photogenic victims, but thankfully the scare was overblown.
The numbers are in on the lead contamination of Flint, Michigan’s water in 2014–15, and it’s time for a sigh of relief.
Medically speaking, the lead in the water turned out to be a non-event.
The increase in lead content in children’s blood after the water debacle was small.
Tiny, in fact.
How tiny?
It was basically statistical noise: 0.11 micrograms per deciliter, which is within the range of normal fluctuation.
Two experts explain in the New York Times:
A similar increase of 0.12 micrograms per deciliter occurred randomly in 2010-11.
It is not possible, statistically speaking, to distinguish the increase that occurred at the height of the contamination crisis from other random variations over the previous decade.
...The authors of the Times piece note that 5 micrograms per deciliter is considered a “reference level.”
This isn’t the point at which someone’s health is in jeopardy, but merely a heads-up that it’s time to start exploring the environment to discover why the lead levels are elevated.
Before the changeover in the water supply, 2.2 percent of Flint children tested above the reference level.
After the changeover, that number rose, but only to 3.7 percent.
Just 20 years ago, in the late 1990s, when no celebrities were talking about the water in Flint, nearly 45 percent of the children there had lead levels above that point.
...Now let’s dial back the clock to the late 1970s, and previous decades, when cars used leaded gasoline and lead was everywhere.
See the source imageEssentially all children in the Seventies were worse off than Flint children at the height of the crisis.
In the late 1970s, 88 percent of U.S. children tested had double today’s reference level of lead in their blood — 10 micrograms of lead per deciliter.
In 2015, the worst year of the water problem in Flint, the average child tested had 1.3 micrograms of lead per deciliter.
That’s down almost half from the levels recorded as recently as 2006, when that figure was 2.33 micrograms of lead per deciliter in the city..."

What Trump Knows About Tariffs that Establishment Trade Economists Forgot

What Trump Knows About Tariffs that Establishment Trade Economists Forgot:

Image result for flickr commons images president trumpEstablishment trade economists appear to be united in both their contempt for Donald Trump’s tariffs and their ignorance that it is rooted in standard trade theory.
A consistent theme of Trump’s statements about trade has been that the United States has made bad trade deals in the past and that our trading partners have rationally taken advantage of the “stupidity” of our leaders. He’s often said he isn’t angry about what the other nations did because they were just doing what was in their interest.

Old Prosecutors Speaking Frankly

Old Prosecutors Speaking Frankly
"About once a year the Society of Old Prosecutors meets in a private libation spot the name of which I am honor bound not to disclose.
We met to discuss the week’s events and, as long as I don’t name the participants, I was given permission to share some of the talk.
(Given the mad-dog operations of the Special Counsel some feared that to publicly state their views they’d be subject to midnight FBI raids with their nightgown-garbed wives rousted from bed and felt up by armed agents, or all their assets seized and their private correspondence unrelated to anything handed over to Democratic spinners like Lanny Davis to be megaphoned on CNN.)
Lawyer 1: The President is denying his former lawyer Cohen’s claim that he approved the meeting in Trump Tower. Funny that meeting, isn’t it? I mean, why did Loretta Lynch allow Natasha Veselnitskaya to have a special visa to enter the country and why did Natasha choose as her translator Anatoli Samochornov, who for over a decade was a U.S. State Department Translator?’ I’ve handled far weaker entrapment cases.
Lawyer 2: Funnier yet, the meeting was ostensibly to discuss Russian orphan adoption issues. But even if it had been to hear the dirt Russia had on Hillary, when and why and how would it be unusual or illegal for a campaign to want to hear dirt on a competitor? I mean, get real -- Hillary paid for the Dossier which was confected by an anti-Trump former UK spy whose sources were all Russian. Not since I read Alice in Wonderland as a kid, have I seen such an upside down universe.
Lawyer 3:  Now speaking of the Dossier, how much longer will the FISC continue in operation after having rubberstamped over and again widespread spying on a political campaign based on the most idiotic of warrants? I cannot imagine a regular court granting these and FISC was, we were told by most (but not the late Robert Bork) that it would provide greater protections for citizens against unwarranted privacy intrusions.
Lawyer 1: DOJ and the FBI did some audacious tap dancing in those applications, didn’t they? Didn’t tell the Court they were relying on an unverified piece of campaign dirt gathering; didn’t tell the court it didn’t even know who the sources were that the author of the Dossier relied on. Used newspaper articles to justify the warrant! And then didn’t note that the articles were themselves part of Christopher Steele’s propaganda effort for Hillary. I’d have been disbarred had I ever tried such stunts.
Lawyer 2: And that’s not all -- they twisted Carter Page’s history. For three years he acted as an informant and witness for the FBI and they reframed his history to make it seem he was “an agent of a foreign power who knowingly engaged in clandestine intelligence activity that may have involved criminal violations."

American traitors!-----The 10 Most Destructive Americans of My 8 Decades

The 10 Most Destructive Americans of My 8 Decades
"America has undergone enormous change during the nearly eight decades of my life.
Today, America is a bitterly divided, poorly educated and morally fragile society with so-called mainstream politicians pushing cynical identity politics, socialism and open borders.
The president of the United States is threatened with impeachment because the other side doesn’t like him.
The once reasonably unbiased American media has evolved into a hysterical left wing mob.
How could the stable and reasonably cohesive America of the 1950s have reached this point in just one lifetime?
Who are the main culprits?
Here’s my list of the 10 most destructive Americans of the last 80 years.
10) Mark Felt – Deputy director of the FBI, aka “Deep Throat” during the Watergate scandal. This was the first public instance of a senior FBI officially directly interfering in America’s political affairs. Forerunner of James Comey, Peter Strzok, Lisa Page and Andrew McCabe.
9) Bill Ayers– Represents the deep and ongoing leftist ideological damage to our education system. An unrepentant American terrorist who evaded punishment, he devoted his career to radicalizing American education and pushing leftist causes. Ghost wrote Obama’s book, “Dreams of My Father.”
8) Teddy Kennedy – Most folks remember Teddy as the guy who left Mary Joe Kopechne to die in his car at Chappaquiddick. The real damage came after he avoided punishment for her death and became a major Democrat force in the US Senate, pushing through transformative liberal policies in health care and education.  The real damage was the 1965 Hart-Cellar immigration bill he pushed hard for that changed the quota system to increase the flow of third world people without skills into the US and essentially ended large-scale immigration from Europe.
7) Walter Cronkite – Cronkite was a much beloved network anchor who began the politicalization of America’s news media with his infamous broadcast from Vietnam that described the Tet Offensive as a major victory for the Communists and significantly turned the gullible American public against the Vietnam War. In fact, the Tet offensive was a military disaster for the NVA and Viet Cong, later admitted by North Vietnamese military leaders. Decades later Cronkite admitted he got the story wrong. But it was too late.  The damage was done.
6) Bill and Hillary Clinton—It’s difficult to separate Team Clinton. Bill’s presidency was largely benign as he was a relative fiscal conservative who rode the remaining benefits of the Reagan era. But his sexual exploits badly stained the Oval Office and negatively affected America’s perception of the presidency. In exchange for financial support, he facilitated the transfer of sensitive military technology to the Chinese.  Hillary, a Saul Alinsky acolyte, is one of the most vicious politicians of my lifetime, covering up Bill’s sexual assaults by harassing and insulting the exploited women and peddling influence around the globe in exchange for funds for the corrupt Clinton Foundation. She signed off on the sale of 20% of the US uranium reserve to the Russians after Bill received a $500,000 speaking fee in Moscow and the foundation (which supported the Clinton’s regal lifestyle) received hundreds of millions of dollars from those who benefited from the deal.  Between them, they killed any honor that might have existed in the dark halls of DC.
5) Valerie Jarrett - The Rasputin of the Obama administration.  A Red Diaper baby, her father, maternal grandfather and father-in-law (Vernon Jarrett who was a close friend and ally of Obama mentor Frank Marshall Davis) were hardcore Communists under investigation by the U.S. government. She has been in Obama’s ear for his entire political career pushing a strong anti-American, Islamist, anti-Israeli, socialist/communist, cling-to-power agenda...."

Hillary Clinton cozies up to Harvey Weinstein, reminding America that it averted a disaster - Washington Times:

A year and a half after the fact, we are seeing photographs of Hillary and Bill Clinton at a cozy dinner just weeks after her failed presidential campaign, with accused serial rapist Harvey Weinstein. Having powerful friends like the Clintons is a reminder of not only how someone as disgusting as Mr. Weinstein remained in power, but why people were afraid to act against him.

This was posted by someone I thought was “reasonable”.
I guess not.
We can differ in some of our thinking and how we think we can get to the same results, but isn’t there enough evidence on how destructive and dangerous socialism is?
Do they think they can repackage it with a different name to get people to buy in?
There’s so much ignorance out there, and people that are smart but misinformed."

Interesting Times

Interesting Times
"If anyone can bring America through these “interesting times”, Trump can.

  • ...China, on many levels, second only to the United States, has performed the Great Leap Forward that Mao dreamed of, but since he was a raging, dogmatic communist, couldn’t pull off. They’ve gone from a Third World, blatant, heavy handed, rigidly communist police state to a First World, semi-capitalist, relatively free – the police presence is still very much there, but is toned way down – world power.
  • Russia, while no longer the Number 2 Superpower in the world, is still a potential hostile and bellicose force to be reckoned with. Their new alliances in the Middle East, made during the American presidencies of two far leftists – Clinton and Obama – and a die-hard globalist – Bush – have wreaked havoc with the balance of power there...
  • Iran, thanks to the outrageous submission of Obama – an apostate or closet Muslim – is on the verge of developing useable nuclear weapons. They have been a well-known state sponsor of terrorism, supplying money, weapons, and expertise to jihadists and militant Islamists all over the world. Obama removed the sanctions we had placed on them, unfroze their assets, showered them with billions of dollars, and virtually required nothing from them in return. The result has been a resurgence of support for worldwide Islamic terrorism, and an escalating stream of threats from the mullahs in Tehran.
  • The Islamic invasion of Europe, aided and abetted by leftist/globalist European governments has raised, too, the very the possible collapse of Germany, France, Britain, and the Scandinavian countries. The poorest nations in the world are Islamic and Europe seems hell-bent on joining them.
  • Here at home in the Good Ol’ USA, the left has gone into an insane panic and a violent rampage over the re-emergence of American pride, the election of Donald Trump as president, and his remarkable and undeniable success in undoing much of the damage done by Obama over the past eight years. On Capitol Hill, the leftist Democrat Party has become openly “socialist”, encouraging the violence from their shrinking base, very reminiscent of the National Socialist German Nazis in the late 1930s.
See the source image...All this, to me, adds up to nothing less than “interesting times”.
We’ve had them before, and America has, so far, survived.
As with Britain which had Winston Churchill during WWll, we have Donald Trump.
In spite of the constant denigrating attacks from the leftist propaganda machine – aka, the “mainstream” media – and Democrat seditionist politicians like Adam Schiff and Maxine Waters, Trump is proving himself to be one of the most competent and extraordinary presidents in history of the nation.
He has not failed yet and I, for one, trust him implicitly.
If anyone can bring America through these “interesting times”, he can.
And I, like millions of other real, patriotic Americans, will support him in every way I can."

Despicable people!-----The truth behind the Baffin Bay starving polar bear video is worse than we thought | Climate Depot

The truth behind the Baffin Bay starving polar bear video is worse than we thought | Climate Depot
"Remember that video of an emaciated Baffin Island polar bear that went viral last December?
In an unexpected follow-up (“Starving-Polar-Bear Photographer Recalls What Went Wrong“; National Geographic, August 2018 issue), photographer Cristina Mittermeier makes some astonishing admissions that might just make you sick.
Baffin Island starving pb headline_GlobalNews_8 Dec 2017
It turns out they didn’t just come across the dying bear the day it was filmed: it was spotted at least two days earlier by Paul Nicklen.
He must have had a satellite phone with him when he saw the bear but the only call he made was to his film crew — he made no attempt to find a local conservation officer to euthanize the bear, which would have been the right thing to do.
The bear’s emaciated, near-death stagger1 was simply too tantilizing to pass up (video needs action: an emaciated deadbear would not been nearly as effective). Mittermeier claims they knew when they filmed the bear that he was sick or injured, but Nicklon presented it as an effect of climate change regardless.
Mittermeier now says National Geographic simply “went too far” with their video caption (“This is what climate change looks like“), that she and Nicklan “lost control of the narrative.”
Actually, what they lost was their humanity.
Here are some excerpts (my bold)...Read on!
Read the rest here.
What kind of people sit around for days knowing an animal is suffering an agonizingly slow death and do nothing but plan how to use that suffering animal to make money
...Their response to the public backlash (“National Geographic went too far”) is laughable. They just don’t get it: their actions did real damage to their cause.
Bottom line: A polar bear needlessly died a slow, miserable death because of heartless climate change advocacy and it made the public angry.

Footnotes

1. As I pointed out in my State of the Polar Bear Report (Crockford 2018), cancer can cause the kind of profound muscle wasting exhibited by this polar bear. Muscle wasting is more than simply not having enough to eat: it is the body consuming itself, drawing on all energy reserves to try and fight the illness.

Politico points out that the very firm that Podesta was involved with, Rusnano USA (via its Joule subsidiary), is the likely new vehicle for Russian spying these days, effectively replacing the now shuttered Russian consulate in San Francisco.
