Examining the Latest False Alarm on Climate High seas won’t displace 187 million people—and the claim isn’t even new. By Bjorn Lomborg | RUTHFULLY YOURS
"You’ve probably seen the latest alarming headlines: Rising sea levels from climate change could flood 187 million people out of their homes.
Don’t believe it.
That figure is unrealistic—and it isn’t even new.
It appears in a new scholarly paper, whose authors plucked it from a paper published in 2011

What the earlier paper actually found was that 187 million could be forced to move in the unlikely event that, in the next 80 years, no one does anything to adapt to dramatic rises in sea level.
In real life, the 2011 paper explained, humans “adapt proactively,” and “such adaptation can greatly reduce the possible impacts.”
That means “the problem of environmental refugees almost disappears.”
Realistic assumptions reduce the number to between 41,000 and 305,000—at most, less than 1/600th of the figure in those headlines.
Sober findings get less attention than alarming and far-fetched speculation.
...Climate change is real and needs to be addressed, but when we are asked to spend trillions of dollars on policies that would transform the global economy, we need to demand more than hype and spin."

Why have Democrats lost their curiosity over the Trump-Russia story? - Chicago Tribune

Why have Democrats lost their curiosity over the Trump-Russia story? - Chicago Tribune
"Just a short while ago... Democrats and their media allies were all about sunshine in matters involving President Donald Trump.
But now, not so much.
What happened to curiosity, anyway?
Image result for Attorney General William Barr memeCuriosity and the pursuit of sunlight were once virtues, whether over presidents waging war by using misleading intelligence estimates of weapons of mass destruction or spymasters engaged in surveillance of the cellphones of Americans in violation of the Fourth Amendment.
We were told that curiosity wasn’t only a right, but an obligation of a free people.
But now, obviously, curiosity threatens the Democratic pursuit of Trump.
And curiosity is just not a thing anymore.
...Democrats became even more hysterical, if possible, when Attorney General William Barr said he was investigating the investigators.
They moved to trash his reputation in advance of any findings..."

"After six months of regulated medical marijuana sales in Michigan, the market remains overwhelmingly dominated by an illegal source of product.
Seven percent of the flower sold by licensed provisioning centers in the last six months has been grown by licensed businesses, according to data from the state’s tracking system obtained by MLive. The rest -- 25,106 pounds worth -- has been grown by caregivers.
...“The idea that they’re supplementing it -- that’s not what’s happening,” said Jason Pasko, chief operating officer of High Life Farms in Chesaning.
“They’re dominating the marketplace.”...

Professor Accused Of "Hostile Learning Environment" For Assigning Male Authors | Zero Hedge
"A 22-year old female University of Utah student reported her business professor to campus administrators for, among other things, assigning too many historical texts written by influential male economists of the past.

“I understand the importance of studying the work of those before us and the importance of context,” wrote the student in a complaint to the university’s bias reporting system, where she labeled the professor’s transgressions “derogatory,” “degrading,” and “intimidating,” thereby causing a “hostile learning environment.”
The report also accused the professor of frequent sexist language, but the bulk of the complaint centered on his assigned readings for the business course. (she can't even write one cogent sentence!
“I believe it to no longer be necessary when teaching the foundations of our country’s economic system and those who helped build [its] ideals to be presented in conjunction with their sexist beliefs that have already planted their roots within our global and local communities,” the student stated in her complaint, filed in December 2018 and recently obtained by The College Fix through a public records act request.
...The report does not cite the scholars assigned in the business course, although typical economists discussed in such a class might include Adam Smith, Milton Friedman and Friedrich Hayek.
The student continued: Many of these figures are of great importance. But at what cost do we continue to plant the seed of sexism in the minds of individuals? But especially in a course and college that is already deemed to be a ‘boys club’continuing those teachings, and those teachings being delivered by a professor of [his] character is dangerous.”
“As a top university in the nation, I believe we have a duty to lead by example. Pave a new path and right the wrongs of those before us..."

Seattle Doesn’t Want You To Have A Big House – Reason.com:
See the source image"In good news for people suffering from Seattle's high housing costs, the city is considering a plan to expand the number of backyard cottages, basement apartments, and "accessory dwelling units" allowed in some residential neighborhoods.
Yet at the same time, Seattle City Council members are considering a ban on building big homes.
...O'Brien first started this push in 2016, as a means to try and combat homelessness in Seattle.
His proposal would increase the maximum size limit for backyard and basement units to 1000 square feet, as well as increase the maximum number of occupants allowed from 8 to 12.
It also would eliminate existing requirements that the owner reside in the building and that there be at least one street parking space available per unit..."

Trump Reacts To Mueller’s Statement On Russia Investigation | The Daily Caller:

Image result for flickr commons images robert muellerPresident Donald Trump declared the investigation into Russian conspiracy and obstruction of justice “case … closed” on Wednesday after special counsel Robert Mueller delivered a statement about the conclusion of the probe.
Mueller stated in a Department of Justice (DOJ) press conference on Wednesday that his office did not find evidence of a conspiracy between the Trump campaign and Russia, but reiterated that they did not reach a conclusion on obstruction of justice. Mueller appeared to leave that decision up to Congress, noting a longstanding DOJ regulation that prohibits charging a sitting president with a crime.
