How Did the Boulder Gunman Obtain His Firearm? by Beth Baumann

How Did the Boulder Gunman Obtain His Firearm? by Beth Baumann
"Anytime a mass shooting takes place, Democrats and members of the mainstream media make assumptions about why the gunman carried out the attack and how gun control proposals could have prevented the tragedy.
The same thing happened following last week's attack in Boulder, Colorado.
...One of the biggest claims is that "universal background checks" or "enhanced background checks" could have prevented the gunman from obtaining his firearm.
This is flat-out false.
Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa purchased his Ruger AR-556 pistol six days before he carried out the attack at the Kings Soopers store in Boulder.
...He went to a "gun dealer," filled out a 4473 form – the form that's used to process a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) – underwent a background check, he passed, and the sale proceeded.
...The third problem: the gunman was on the FBI's watch list before the shooting.
...Universal background checks sound great on paper, especially to those who are ignorant about firearm policies and legislation, but they do very little to curb "gun violence."
The Boulder shooting is the latest example of where those gun control measures – which proponents guarantee would prevent mass carnage – have failed.
AWR Hawkins from Breitbart listed the other attacks where other gunmen legally obtained through firearms (through background checks conducted at FFLs):
  • Atlanta-area attacker (March 16, 2021)
  • Parkland high school attacker (February 14, 2018)
  • Texas church attacker (November 5, 2017)

  • Lafayette movie theater attacker (July 23, 2015)
  • Chattanooga attacker (July 16, 2015)

Biden used 'cheat sheet' during first press conference; Fox News host Chris Wallace knocks president for 'reading talking points' - TheBlaze

After 65 days in office to prepare for his first press conference, President Joe Biden relied heavily on notes for certain questions from the media. The 78-year-old Democratic president also had a cheat sheet with photos of White House reporters, which he seemingly used to determine which reporters he would call on during Thursday's news conference. The cheat sheet in question had the faces and names of White House reporters, as well as what news outlets they represented. The guide was organized to show where the reporters were sitting during the press conference.

Biden Administration Urges Supreme Court To Let Cops Enter Homes And Seize Guns Without A Warrant
"The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday will hear oral argument in Caniglia v. Strom, a case that could have sweeping consequences for policing, due process, and mental health, with the Biden Administration and attorneys general from nine states urging the High Court to uphold warrantless gun confiscation.
But what would ultimately become a major Fourth Amendment case began with an elderly couple’s spat over a coffee mug...(worth reading in full!)
...Critically, when police seized the guns, they didn’t claim it was an emergency or to prevent imminent danger.
Instead, the officers argued their actions were a form of “community caretaking,” a narrow exception to the Fourth Amendment’s warrant requirement.
First created by the Supreme Court nearly 50 years ago, the community caretaking exception was designed for cases involving impounded cars and highway safety, on the grounds that police are often called to car accidents to remove nuisances like inoperable vehicles on public roads.
....Nevertheless, the court decided to extend that doctrine to cover private homes, ruling that the officers “did not exceed the proper province of their community caretaking responsibilities.”
Siding with law enforcement, the First Circuit noted that a police officer “must act as a master of all emergencies...
In their opening brief for the Supreme Court, attorneys for Caniglia warned that “extending the community caretaking exception to homes would be anathema to the Fourth Amendment” because it “would grant police a blank check to intrude upon the home.”...Read all.

Instapundit--HOW IT STARTED

"Minneapolis City Council Calls for Defunding the Police.

How it’s going: Catalytic converters are at the center of a Twin Cities crime wave.

“Law enforcement officials say catalytic converters have become a hot commodity...The value of those metals is skyrocketing: Platinum was going for more than $1,200 an ounce Thursday, according to several online trading sites. Thieves can sell the converters to scrap yards that pay up to a few hundred dollars apiece, or fetch a pretty penny by hawking them on Facebook marketplace and other websites featuring used car parts.”

On Wednesday's episode of "Louder with Crowder," Steven Crowder responded to Colbert's "ignorance of gun laws" that was on display when Colbert made an analogy meant as a slight directed at Sen. Kennedy. "Okay, I'll take that deal," Colbert said. "Let's regulate guns the way we regulate alcohol and cars."

Democrats Bar Female Athletes From Testifying at Equality Act Hearing | CNSNews
"(CNS News) – Although the Democrat majority on the Senate Judiciary Committee blocked female athletes who oppose the Equality Act from testifying by video at Wednesday’s hearing on the subject, the ladies’ testimony was submitted into the record.
...The Equality Act, which passed the House (224-206) and is now in the Senate, would amend the 1964 Civil Rights Act to include protections for “gender identity” and “sexual orientation.”
In practice this would mean, among other things, that transgender “females” (biological males) would be allowed to play on girls’ sports teams and use their bathrooms, locker rooms, and showers.

New Universal Basic Income Program in Oakland, Calif., Excludes Low-Income White Families

"The city of Oakland, Calif., has just launched a universal basic income program, providing low-income families $500 per month, with absolutely no strings attached regarding how they must spend it....

Unless you aren’t eligible for the program because you’re white.

The “Oakland Resilient Families” program has so far raised $6.75 million from private donors including Blue Meridian Partners, a national philanthropy group. To be eligible, individuals must have at least one child under the age 18 and an income that is at or below 50% of the area median income — about $59,000 per year for a family of three....

...And it is the first program to limit participation strictly to Black, Indigenous and people of color communities.

Biden Gas Price Increases and New Mileage Tax Will Cost Middle Class Twice as Much as COVID Stimulus Checks Received - The Last Refuge

Biden Gas Price Increases and New Mileage Tax Will Cost Middle Class Twice as Much as COVID Stimulus Checks Received - The Last Refuge:
"This is a specific example that needs to be drilled down quickly so that people with only a cursory interest in politics can understand how it impacts them.
Biden’s $1400 stimulus checks are useless, literally wiped-out, when compared with the increase in gasoline prices already in place as part of the Biden energy policy.

  • Gas prices have already jumped $1/gal in most areas as a result of Biden killing the oil production energy sector.
  • Factor in the increased transportation costs for goods and services, including the costs associated with deliveries of home meals, Uber rides, products delivered, airline charges; and the gas price increase hits the family checkbook far beyond the $1400 provided for stimulus.
  • Add to that charge and the increases in electricity prices, together with the increase in product costs that are based on petroleum (rubber, plastics, containers etc), and you can see how the increased cost of Biden’s ridiculous energy policy hits families even harder.
But wait…. it gets worse….

  • If that were already not enough of a problem, Biden is now proposing a mileage tax on top of a gasoline tax increase that will hit the middle class much harder. [SEE Video at 01:30]...Read all.

"Until 2016, the Panama Canal limited ship sizes to 965' length overall and a 106' beam.
(The expanded canal accommodates ships of 1200' LOA with a 168' beam.)
Merchant ships, and most naval ships (an Iowa-class battleship will just fit), were designed around those parameters.
...The Suez Canal Authority is going to have make changes, especially in how it enforces its transit limitations as regards weather reports, or it's going to need to escort these vessels, as happens in most ports, with tugs (it doesn't have) already made up to them fore and aft.
